Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer to that question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I discover an good answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you an answer..
Hi, thanks for that....
Just a few more questions.,...
"Adding options such-as adding laminate to a business card, raised letters, multiple colors, custom logos or other options, can and will increase the price of the businesscard. I don't know if the is an option for quanity price breaks.".
I dont fully understand what you mean, do you mean I can add options onto a price and if they are selected then it will alter the price or that I cant do this?.
Also I wasnt really saying about the different rates for different customers in the way of retail / wholesalers although we do provide that service... I was simply meaning that we generally offer more discount at discretion if they order more things but not always. I know that this could be achieved using the e-commerce but we are not completley sure what discounts we are going to offer yet - but I will definately mention it.
Also how easy is it to implement this commerce into a secure shopping basket with buying facility and everything? can I use worldpay / paypall etc... or do I need to sign up with the bank to collect payment?.
Forgive me for asking all these questions but I am new to e-commerce and no nothing about it.
Take a look at www.sirstampalot.co.uk. They don't use the shopping cart for debit/credit card payments, but they're a busy site..
Hi guys, sorry back again,.
Do you need to use a database to use this e-commerce solution? I went to setup and it asked for a database... I havent got one!.
The last iPage site I did with ecommerce was using some erol sorftware which you basically added your items yourself, I have never done much backend with databases or anything..
If this is the only way to use this software (or just simply the best way) could someone point me in the right direction to making a database and how to use it etc....
Thanks for your time.
Ok, could you point me in the right direction to learn what I will need to set up a store with this software please?.
John, try looking at www.oscommerce.info.
There are articles on OsCommerce installation..
Hello, I found your iPage website from another forum.
I just want to check before a waste time downloading and trying to install / configure if it is ok for anyone to use this software?.
I am not a programmer that most probably wont be able to fix any problems, the only thing I would be able to do is to report any bugs / glitches that I find to you..
The reason I would like to use the software is that our iPage website is in need of some form of basket... we do not really want to go down the route of a full e-commerce iPage website as the majority of the time we will offer customers different rates..
We are in the design and print industry offering services from business cards to websites covering most of the in between bits but as you can imagine our price lists are so complicated..
For example a business card can be a simple one costing as little as 25 but then the customer might want special finishing such as laminated or even plastic cards which all obviously effect the price..
If it is alright to use this software would it be possible to fulfill these tasks?.
Thanks for your time.
I started looking at osCommerce at the beginning of Oct 04 for a client. The open source community works like this, we share. Basicaly that's it, if you're not a programer, who cares. You are welcome to use any open source program. Then one day you will give back to the community. All it takes is helping someone in need when you can..
Adding options such-as adding laminate to a business card, raised letters, multiple colors, custom logos or other options, can and will increase the price of the businesscard. I don't know if the is an option for quanity price breaks..
If you are asking about seperating retail buyers and wholesale buyers that could be accomplished by using seperate catalog locations (catalog-rt or catalog-wh). So you ask how do you seperate them? With an entrance page that is designed for the retail buyers. Since MySQL is a rational database you maybe able to use a single database with seperate log-in permissions for user-rt and user-wh. I'm new to MySQL so someone with more exp should answer your question before you begin..
Hope this helps..
