Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe:.

1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to:.

1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstenance from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

8. Be honest with ourselves and our Medifast family and to stay 100% OP at all times. We also swear that WHEN (not if) we are having a tough time and feel like we may eat SLUDGE, to come to our Medifast family first and ask for support and help to get us through the struggle..

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I discover an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably know..

I am so happy for you to feel the wind, smell the crisp air, and the earth under your feet..

What kind of shoes do your prefer fro your running? Everybody has favorites.I feel like you're the dove Noah is sending out to see if it's safe to come out of the ark. Can you smell Spring in the air yet?.

My sister lives in Seattle WA and gives her dog, Wally a good walk each day. She told me yesterday that the crocuses were up. Each one of those bright little flowers is so encouraging. Seattle isn't PA or Indiana either. We are still under ice and snow..

DH left this AM as usual for his two days in Indy. The temp: 30 degrees at 6AM, which is the warmest we've been in weeks..

I am sitting in bed with my cup of coffee, the Sunday papers , and eating a steak for bkft. My body does better the earlier in the day I eat my L (big protein dose), but I never have steak..

Bought some of Laura's beef yesterday at Kroger.s and am certainly enjoying it this AM..

Good morning Beth! Enjoy that steak! I am having an egg beaters omlet, with an LC cheese wedge, chopped veggies and some Jimmy Dean, precooked, turkey sausage crumbles. On plan for sure!.

I can't smell spring yet. Even after yesterdays icy rain, we still have a good 8 to 10 inches of snow on the ground, but the streets look like they aren't icy and the thermometer reads 39 degrees right now. Now if I could just get a little sun! I had Nikes because I had a Nike plus to keep track of my distance, but I lost my little transmitter. I'm good at losing things. This time I got a pair of Brooks and Mizunos. Very different shoes.

I love to run on the trail. I might not go as fast, but I get lost in the woods..

It's going to be warm here today then cool off during the week, but in about 2-3 weeks our highs should be all in the 60s. We'll be able to hit the beach some more then..

Let me introduce myself.... My name is Cindy I am 47 married and have a 14 yr old son... I am committed to Medifast and need tough love... I am not a mushy kind of it's ok person.. Oe rule of mine is take control of your actions and you have no one to blame but yourself.....

That being said this thread will be great for me... I have fallen off program this week and super bowl Sunday or not I am back OP....

Barb enjoy your run outside today... It's supposed to be warmer here too but there is soooooo much snow on the ground I'll be lucky to hit the road I April.... However I will enjoy 45 minutes on the elliptical this morning....

I seriously HATE food porn dreams. They are scary and sad. I felt like I dreamed about SLUDGE all night long. Ugh! It's not that it even makes me want to have it when I wake up. Just the opposite actually. It makes me sad and discusted actually..

It reminds me of when I was pregnant and I would dream about smoking while pregnant. I DON't even smoke!! I would wake up just feeling awful that I could do that to my precious bean growing inside me..

On a positive note...Another day of waking up and feeling glorious!!! Ahhhh! I love that my body feels so good now, even though my mind still plays tricks on me...

Chickie I used to hate to run too but now I love it and it keeps my head clear... I also have more patience with my family when I exercise so it's good for all...

Good morning Vietnam, er, I mean TLers! (Beth - love that line from that movie, but then again I am a Robin Williams fan!).

Nothing surprised me more than when I realized I love to run! I run verrrry slowly but I took a racewalking clinic with a friend once and realized during that clinic that I didn't want to walk fast, I wanted to run! I can't wait to get back to running but I hate the treadmill so I am waiting until the weather breaks a little (and there is daylight other than the hours I am at work) and then I will start Couch 25K - hopefully by next winter I will be so established with it I will be able to tolerate the treadmill..

Thanks to those who responded to my question yesterday about rate of weight loss. I hope I don't sound like a whiney brat- I am committed to staying 100% OP no matter how long it takes to get to goal and as long as I am losing inches I don't even really care what the scale says (as a WW leader once said "I don't care if I weigh so much that I put holes in the ground when I walk as long as I look good in a bathing suit"). Its just my personality to want to know the "why" behind things. I need to rationalize things - so if my bodybugg says I am burning 2000+ calories per day, and I am 100% OP, knowing I am taking in 800-1000 calories per day, I should lose 2 lbs every week. When that doesn't happen I have this NEED to know why - is it PMS, did I have extra salt, are my muscles swollen from exercise? etc. I like looking at data and trying to predict future outcomes I guess.

Chickie, I'm with you, girl. I remember wanting so badly to love running. It was such a relief when I just let myself hate it and I was cool with that. I've tried it here and there since... yep... still hate it.

In the summer, there are many more options - hiking, biking... Can't wait to spend more time outside again. Last year I didn't log too many bike miles, recovering from a hysterectomy..

We didn't get any more snow last night, but did get a good dose of ice. But the sun is shining and things should be melting soon as we climb to the mid-30s. I have a client meeting at 2 and then I'm going to the mall to use a 30% off NY & Co. coupon before it expires tomorrow..

(Yawn) - time for coffee and breakfast! So excited for the LAST day of football! Woo HOOO!..

Good morning all!.

Today is a day of relaxing and then chipping ice later when the temperature rises a little. I love snow but I'm totally sick of this ice..

I finally tried the scrambled eggs today, only had them for over a month now but powdered eggs made me nervous. I'm very picky about eggs. Anyway, I made them on the stove with some green peppers and mushrooms (to cover the flavor a little if I hated them, logged as part of my green of course) and to my surprise, I loved them! That is my accomplishment for the day. Even if I don't get the ice chipped I'm glad I tackled my powdered egg phobia!.

Now off to throw some laundry in. Have a great OP day everyone!.


PS-I don't like running either. Tried for years to love it like my friends do, but I just don't like it...

Have fun shopping Penny.. Glad to say we didn't get more snow last night either.. but looks like some on Tuesday and possibly a lot on Thursday... Here's a happy thought maybe by spring I'll be at goal. I have as much weight to lose as packed snow on my pool needs to melt....

Morning Peeps!.

I am up and have Zumba'd!! WOOT. First time in a while but it feels pretty good. I found last fall that I really need to stick to 20 minutes as I was burning way too many calories for what I take in, so started slow this morning. I'll probably do some upper arms and some abs later today..

Hey sugargirl, I can't remember yesterday's post, but I wanted to check see if you may be putting yourself into starvation mode. Are you doing the 4 & 2? I have to switch to that when I'm doing a lot of road biking, because I can easily burn over 1,000 on one ride and my body freaks out..

I think Freya is using Morty to keep herself warm.

So I'm leaving for Maui on Wednesday. The good news is I was the energizer bunny and tackled my 'to get done before Maui' list-I built a website for my local teachers organization, got my tax stuff to my accountant, and a bunch of other errands done yesterday. Today is shopping and packing day. The bad news is it's supposed to rain in Maui the entire time we are there.

I'm trying not to be super bummed..

I'm not much of a football fan but I do occasionally enjoy watching it. I think I'm gonna TiVo it cause I really want to see the BlackEyed Peas halftime show. They're one of my favs! If I have to root for one team it's gotta be Green Bay - GO PACKERS! (That is the official END of any football cheering till 2012.).

Watching the beautiful lake view out my window this morning and the colorful birds on the feeders. I've got to put up some additional Bluebird boxes this year and some mealworm feeders for them. Just can't find any good options in the stores local to the lake so I'll have to pack it in from Atlanta..

Welcome Cindy! - Today is the first day of the rest of your program - on plan. You can do it!.

Chickie - I always think food porn dreams are our unconscious minds letting go of the SLUDGE. When I quit smoking, I eventually had a smoking dream and when I woke up I was so relieved that I hadn't really relapsed. I think that morning was when my conscious and unconscious finally truly let go of the cigs. So try putting a positive spin on it, with the understanding that you're really letting go of the SLUDGE..

Barb - I'm like Penny. I don't love running. Maybe at a goal or closer to goal weight I will change my mind about that. I remember when I was a senior in high school I used to jog 2 miles a day and it felt wonderful. But I never got to the point of wanting to do any long distance running. Speaking of shoes, my son the uber-athlete, also likes to run on trails and he bought some Vibram Five Fingers.

Anyway he swears by them. I think they might be good for dance classes like Zumba, because I always feel like my New Balance shoes feel like rocks during those classes. Enjoy your run!.

Tara - thanks for telling us about your scrambled eggs experience. Ever since I heard De say that it makes all the difference to cook them on the stove, I figured I'd put in an order for some the next time I order. Your story seals the deal!.

De - did you do your Zumba at home? I bought the DVD's but have never gotten serious about it at home. Did love it at a gym I used to belong to, mostly because the instructor was so motivational I WANTED to work my butt off. You're inspiring me to break out the DVD's again..

Beth - so how was the steak? Did it live up to your expectations? We have a food cooperative here in Oklahoma and I buy all my beef or buffalo meat and eggs from there. I don't buy the chicken from there because I can get the Harvestland chicken breasts (no additives or preservatives, and healthy diet, etc.) from Walmart for a fraction of the food coop price. I love buying locally and love that I can get ground longhorn beef and not feel guilty about the fat and stuff. The ground longhorn has almost the same nutritional values as chicken! My DH loves a good steak, so I order grassfed beef for him. Very yummy..

AMBER - You crossed into the 240's!!! That is a HUGE milestone. I'm hoping to do the same this week or next. CONGRATULATIONS!!.

I went through my closet last night and sorted out the stuff that doesn't fit, or is old enought that if it ever does fit I won't want to wear it. I was horrified when I was trying on some of my skirted suits. They were size 24W and I could have sworn I had clearly crossed over into the 22W world. Then I remembered the last time I lost a significant amount of weight, I took those 24's and had them altered. I remember at the time thinking, "I hope one day I don't forget that these aren't really 24's any more." Whew!! However, all the clothes sorting reminded me of just how far I have to go. I'm back to sticking my head in the sand this morning and taking it only one day at a time..

I bought a pair of Vibram Five Fingers when I was out on medical leave last year. I love them! But you do need to ease into them. They come with a warning and I didn't heed the warning. Ended up with awful leg cramps at first. But I do love them!..

Nothing in the world will make this uncoordinated girl shake it in public! ROFL. I actually like the DVD's, mostly because I can control the time I do it and it fits me better. I really like the Abs one and the Toning/sculpting, but this one.s 40 min and I have to remember to get in more calories to do it. Right now I'm going to switch between the 20 min express and the abs. Beto is plenty of motivation for me. hehe.

Sunny - I find I do better in the mornings. I work long days and by the time I get home, I pretty much have no motivation at all. Problem is I need to get up stinkin EARLY to do it, so I need to get back in the habit. It's funny. When I was really into it before, I would dream about the music from the DVD's which would wake me up before my alarm went off. Hopefully I can get to that place again...

Today is my official weigh-in day, and as you can see it didn't go exactly as I would have liked. However, my measurements are going down, I'm exercising vigorously for 35-45 minutes 3x a week with my weights (Chalean) so I'll stick with it. It (my weight) has gotta drop sooner or later! I feel zen and calm about this. On the other hand, I tried on one of my "summer" dresses from last year, and I'm nowhere near getting back into it..

Interestingly, this morning was the first time this week that I didn't wake up with a growling, hungry tummy..

I will do some abs and stretching later after a gentle warm up..

It's going to be warm here today, and I'm looking forward to opening up the doors and windows and getting some air in this place!!.

Speaking of air, let me join in the yoo-hoo-ing for Freya!! Come on, lady, some of us live for your reports about you & Morty!! LOL!!.

Beth, steak for breakfast sounds yummy!! I'm not sure if I will have L&G out at lunch today or at dinner-time, but if I'm out steak sounds too good!!.

De, I get up at 5 on MWF for Chalean!! I don't have any intention of working out after my work day, either..

I've been having stellar water-drinking days lately! I'm really in the groove. 48oz. before I leave the house for work!! 16oz when I get home. That way, I have my plain water in and I can enjoy green tea at work (60oz) and a diet soda or two with dinner..

OK, reading over this post, I think I need more coffee!!..

Popping in to say hello to everyone. I'm actually caught up on the thread...for now. Sorry, no chopped tofu (is that the correct usage...if I'm not doing shout outs it's no chopped tofu?)..

Running...I was a runner in my youth, not HS or college (they didn't have girl teams when I was in HS), but my twenties and thirties. Kinda beat up my knees which were weak/vulnerable from a skiing injury. Used to do 10ks all the time and even 1 half marathon. After my knees put me on the bench, I did a lot of walking, which tapered off as I gained weight. I never thought my knees would allow me to run again, but I actually did some slow jogging last summer..

We have a treadmill at home, When I started MF, I could barely do 20 minutes at 2 mph...if I was lucky enough to get to 2 mph. Now, I warm up around 3 mph and after 15-20 minutes that seems slow, so I step it up to 3.5 or so. If I get close to 4 mph, I have to run and running on this TM scares me - it's old and rickety and I also have a history of ankle/foot injuries (can you say uncoordinated?). Hoping I'll be able to jog again come spring..

Sundays tend to be my lazy do for.


Days, so hopefully I'll be popping in and out during the day..

Jan - I'm not a runner and never have been. I get a double whammy. Multiple ankle injuries from gymnastics and a heart rate that can go into the red zone before you can say boo because of the dose of thyroid I have been on all my life. Don't enjoy the pain that comes with it, so I'll just let others run for me...

Could someone tell me how to cook the Medifast eggs on the stove? I have no problem cooking them in the microwave, but my brother just started Medifast one week ago and decided he hates the eggs. Since he still has six more packets of them, if I could help him out with an alternative way of cooking, that might help. Thanks in advance..

Comment #39 daughter bought the five fingers. I haven't tried them yet. Perhaps some day. I really have to be careful because I can't feel the bottom of my feet. Really can't tell if my foot is flat or not. I had some neuroligical damage from my chemo.

For those of you that don't run....I'll be happy to do a few miles for you. This months Runner's World had an article on the Biggest Loser contestants and running. Quite a few of them have kept the weight off my running. I think that has helped me a lot. Well that and staying on my plan...

Guys, running is like Medifast - it's an acquired taste, and you acquire it if you WANT to acquire it. There's no particular reason to acquire it as long as you're doing something to move your butt, but as long as you're physically able you can learn to like if it you want to. Just fake it til you make it..

I have attempted running many times, even when I was thin. It is not for me. My dh runs daily. I love hard workouts which I learned after trying a bunch of different things with a trainer a few years ago. As soon as my dh is back, I'm commandeering the P90x dvds back from him (he has them in Iraq)..

Hope all of you who are watching the game enjoy, my dh just he was headed to bed (at 8 his time) so he could get up at 2 am to watch. Bummer is no commercials for them...

Very glad I'm not physically able.

I never did enjoy running and see no reason to try and make myself like it even if I could. Losing weight is one thing. How I spend my free time is another. I enjoy my bike and walking my dogs, I enjoy Zumba. No reason to do something I would take no pleasure in...

Runners - I do not run. I did in HS when I was on the field hockey team. I tried running with my DH last spring/summer. I got bored! I tend to do DVDs at home - did P90X this past spring. Have to start much slower after PT. I was told to concentrate on my abs, so that's what I'm doing..

Fuzzy - enjoy the weather today. Me thinks it won't last long!.

Freya, continue with what you are doing, just don't burn too many calories and remember to eat and drink..

Morning all. *yawns*.

I tried to make myself into a runner, too. Got up to being able to run 5K, never made it much further than that. Ended up walking the half marathon that I signed up for to "force myself to train for it." I finally last year gave myself permission to NOT be a runner, after I'd been working at it for so long. I felt better then..

No chopped tofu. I'm tired. DH and I slept through Sunday morning church service (this happens frequently as I'm usually so exhausted from working Thursday and Fridayeven though I hate it), and we have an evening service at 6 as well. The problem tonight is that pesky game that starts at 5:30 which is actually between here and the church building. We're wondering if it might not just be safer to stay in...

I have even had good thoughts of how I'm going to have no problem being on plan during our vacation in May..

I know many of you are able to do it and have done it successfully, but that will be another huge milestone for me. When I accomplish that, I will know that I have made life changes..

I have no problem with bashing the darn thing, with a sledge hammer, if/when it turns on me!.

Spending the day (before the big game) doing some 'brutal' decluttering (my stuff, not DH's, LOL). I have too much 'stuff' and it is time to toss what I do not use. Simplifying my life on all levels (no, not tossing the DH....just 'stuff')..

I have stayed away from this group for a bit. Its because many of the group don't practice tough 'love'. They are just looking for a reason to feel better than others do. A tough 'love' person would have been able to say things to me that were understanding, and for sure not condemning and saying I just had no idea of what the program was about..

I do have an idea, at least 1/2 a clue. No one even asked why it was so important to me to not say no to my mother. No one asked anything..

However, many were exceptionally judgmental. Its as if they thought they had lost weight but I had gained! Well, I hadn't gained other than 10 pounds of water weight. My first week reflected a.

20 pound loss.

My second week showed a 10 pound gain. That means in two weeks I lost 10 pounds..

I am in heart failure - hence the problems with water weight. My mother is 84 years old and no I am not going to start saying no to her. We come from Arab backgrounds. My job is to try to make my mother happy and comfortable. I can still spend my other times doing as I choose without making her feel pushed around, unloved, and unrespected..

Perhaps next time before judging others, you will think - and ask questions - and truly find it in your heart to give 'tough love'...

Hi everyone. Non-runner here too. I ran track from grade 7 thru my sophomore year (hurdles, long-jump, triple-jump, and the 400m). Hated every. single. day of it! The only reason I did it was because both my older sisters did and it was "expected".

Can't wait to reach goal because I am totally going to take dance lessons. Hip hop, ballroom, latin...very excited!.

This is assuming my back doesn't keep going out on me. Back ached so bad this weekend I'm back on the Vicodin. Sigh..

Connor - If you get the measurements right, there's no reason why you can't have the cauli-pizza for l&g. It takes some math skills though and I simply waited until transition to even try it. I liked it ok, but never have gotten the crust right and just found it to not be worth the effort...

The cauliflower pizza, especially since Penny sent me a recipe with some tips for do-aheads. Her crust used cheddar & mozza for the crust, or something like that. I'll look to see where I saved it if she doesn't pop in and post it first..

I did my measurements this morning and they depressed me, but the scale moved today for the first time in a week, not much, but it moved, and it was onward & downward!..

Ok, not a runner here. Did a lot of that when I was in the military and didn't like it then still don't. I do like walking, belly dancing and a lot of other things. Most of them winter sports..

Oh and I like knitting. I know, shock horror. I'm currently knitting a pair of socks. It's my one non-geek/non-nerd hobby...

Whew. I was worried. 'Cause I made 10 crusts yesterday and I have to say...AMAZING. They took me all freakin' day to make, but well worth it in the end. And you are completely right on the math and measurements!! That took forever too. But I measured it out and with toppings of sliced tomatoes and WW cheese, one pizza comes to 268 cals, 13 grams of fat and 12 carbs.

I froze the rest of them and will pull them out whenever I need something other than shrimp or chicken..

Tonight it's cubed chicken with some Franks hot sauce and Medifast pretzel crushed on them...the skinny person's "wings". I've never had Franks, so I hope it works out!..

Just finished the 2 Mile Walk Away the Pounds DVD. De, you insprired me. I need to get the Zumba DVD's out but I figured I could waste a lot of time trying to learn the moves and not actually get a workout. Now I have my workout done, I may slip Zumba in and see if I can learn a few steps..

I need to get some work done but just am not in the mental space to do it. Guess I'll watch the Super Bowl instead. To all those attending Super Bowl party - enjoy it!! On plan of course..

AAAAnd, while I was out, I decided to stop in NY & Co. to use my 30% off coupon. As it turned out, I couldn't use the coupon because the two items I bought were 50% off, so I gave the coupon away. That made me feel good. But not as good as getting a pair of City Knit West Street Pants in a size Small!.

While I was at Panera Bread, where I met my hopefully-future-client, I ran into a former coworker who immediately said, "You're so small!".

That recipe and most of the others that she's credited for have been around longer than I have, and there used to be a constant (and may still be) link to it and many other cauli recipes in Chatty's siggy. There used to be a member named Orangeblood. He created the Medifast Survival Guide years ago. I still have that PDF somewhere. Go through it and you will likely see many familiar recipes that others take credit for. I don't think the Cauli recipes are there (I think there is an entire website, but I'll have to ask Chatty about that), but there are some really great tips and recipes that have withstood the times. hehe.

I just made a fabulous veggie tray and we destroyed it! I wasn't about to pay $15 for 2 lbs. of veggies! I paid about $8 for orange cauliflower, broccoli, yellow tomatoes, celery, ranch, olives, and little cocktail beef sludge dogs. I warmed up a pre-measured bag of shrimp from the freezer and had my veggies with measured healthy fats and it was delicious!.

Good thing I ate before Christina GAG-you-ilara butchered the National Anthem! I loved when she botched the words! Do.NOT.forget the words to your country's National Anthem at the Superbowl! Haaahahaha! Now will someone please end her career already?..

Just back from the cabin, trying to catch up. I have no idea what "satin" was talking about either and it's not worth the effort to figure it out..

I have some VFF - got them last summer and I absolutely LOVE them. I especially like the fact that - if dirty - throw them in the washer or hose them off! True- it's good to take it easy at first, especially if you're not used to going au-natural. I never wear shoes in the summer, so they basically just protected the bottom of my feet. I did find that running in them did cause a flair of my plantar fasciitis, though. I think they'll be perfect to wear in the Warrior Dash!.

Spent 10 hours Saturday painting the 2 bedrooms at the cabin. Totally exhausted. Hot tub felt mahhhvelous! Then a nice hike over ice trails today. hehe We only went about a mile it was just too darn dangerous to try to walk on 3" of sheer ice beside 50 ft. cliffs..

Basketball Buckeyes! Now 24-0!.

Holy schnikes, I just ate my "wings' and they were DY-NO-MITE. That's TWO recipes this weekend that worked out well, although the wings took approximately 10 hours less time..

Makes up for the "blueberry muffin" fiasco I tried to make this morning with the blueberry oatmeal mix. It looked - literally - like a pile of dogshit. It smelled - literally - like a pile of dogshit. I had to open the window and door to get the stench out of the kitchen. In MN. In February.

I ended up eating Apple & Cinnamon oatmeal plain, like God and Medifast intended!..

I have something like 4dvd's that came in the package with the toning bars. Each DVD has at least 2 sessions on them. I'll look later and tell you exactly. I do know 1 disc has the instructional "Basics" and 20 minute express and some other instructional piece. I also have the tone and sculpt, the abs, cario party and a few other sessions. I like the express, the abs and the tone and sculpt.
