I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I got an good answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could answer your iPage question..
If your Hosying company supplies CPanel or equivalent there is a directory protection icon to password protect your admin.
If not then go in contributions (link at top of page) and do a search for admin.
You will find a few that does just that.
I have been looking into .htpasswd and .htaccess as we are on apache (sorry I forgot to mention...duh), havnt gotten to work yet though. My network admin is at a class so hopefully he can help me when he gets back. If not I'll look for some contributions..
I have tried this but now when I go to the admin directory I get and error page..
How do most of you handle security for the admin directory? I changed the name of it but I need to install a login script so anyone hitting it will have to enter a password..
Does anyone have any advise on how to do this?.
There are a couple of ways to handle this. If you're on a UNIX/LINUX/Apache setup you can do this using .htaccess (If you don't know what the heck I am blabbering about, keep reading for the next idea.).
For a windoze solution, check out this contribution:.
This contribution also works with UNIX/LINUX/Apache, and is one method of forcing login..
Hope this helps!.
