Quick! Is Dreamweaver Compatible with iPage?

Click Here To View All Answers...

My first question is Quick! Is Dreamweaver Compatible with iPage? Looking forward for any response. Another question on my mind: And I have very little idea about SSL setup..

I'm iPage hosting with ipowerweb. Their instructions to SSL enable my iPage site are to use the following URL for pages I want protected:.

Ok, I can do that. But when I do so, all images are broken even my colors etc don't show up..

What all do I need to change here? Where do I need to change them? I'm absolutely lost..

I've looked in the Wiki Docs and scoured this forum but can't come to terms with a solution..

If someone can point me in the right direction, I'd be most appreciative..

Also, which pages do I need secure? Just the checkout stuff?.

Thanks all.....

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you an answer..

Oh, and by the way, I forgot to mention. When you edit those two files, MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE ANY BLANK LINES AND SPACES AT THE BEGINNING AND END OF THE FILES before you save them!..

Ok.... I made those changes..

When I go to checkout I get a page not found error (this URL):.

(beeguysc is the username).

Also, when I go to admin, it's still telling me I am not protected by a secure SSL connection..

I also changed.

Define('ENABLE_SSL', false);.

To.

Define('ENABLE_SSL', true);.

Was I supposed to do that?.

Thanks for the help!..

You're missing a / in your path name - check the lines.

Define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/');.

Define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');.

Have a / on the end. And you'll also need to check the line.

Define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', dirname($HTTP_SERVER_VARS['SCRIPT_FILENAME'])'/' );.

All in your configure.php file.

Dylan..

Here's what I have....

Define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/catalog/');.

Define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');.

And.

Define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/beeguysc/public_html/catalog/');.

Still giving me an error..

Am I close?..

URL.

Comes up 404 and.

Redirects (notice extra /catalog/ in second URL).

It looks like line:.

Define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/');.

Should be.

Define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/catalog/');.

Dylan..

Great...that worked! I can now log in and checkout showing.

And my browser is showing as secure..

However, in the admin section, it is still showing the message that I am not protected by a secure SSL connection. What gives with that? Is it a problem in the config file in the admin section? I can't track it down.....

Thanks again, BIG time!..

I just fixed that on my iPage site yesterday..

This may have strange side effects but I haven't found any yet..

In /admin/includes/functions/htmloutput.php change line 15 from:.

Function tep_href_link($page = '', $parameters = '', $connection = 'NONSSL') {.

To.

Function tep_href_link($page = '', $parameters = '', $connection = 'SSL') {.

Defaults all <a href> entries to HTTPS unless explicitly set..

In admin/includes/configure.php I had to add the following two lines.

Define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true'); // secure webserver for admin module.

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.yoursecuresitename.com');.

Think that was it - forces the whole admin into SSL. If you notice any side effects let me know..

Dylan..

Thanks Dyland....

Here are my results from that last bit of changes..

When I go to my admin page, I still get the message that I'm not protected by a secure SSL protection (bottom left corner). However, when I go to any of those links (catalog, modules, anything) it points me to an https:// page. Good...

However, now the images on in the different sections of the admin pages are broken. For example, none of my catalog images are showing up..

Again, any ideas?.

I really appreciate the help..

(this was what I did for he second part).

Define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true'); // secure webserver for admin module.

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://host55.ipowerweb.com/~beeguysc');.

Is that in the correct format? And does it matter where in the config file you put it? (I put it at the beginning of the define( ) lines)..

Tried uploading the images again in the catalog but still not showing..

Other images in admin aren't showing as well like the little flag icons signifying different countries..

All of this happened only after I made the changes shown above in this thread..

Grrrrrr.... isn't this fun?..

Bigjohn, did you heed my warning?.

It might not be the trouble with your broken images, but double-check it just to make sure...

Yes I experienced similar problems when I preformed this modification. I just reveresed it by commenting the lines and everything works sweet again. However the admin area is unprotected?..

Well Im going to add to this problem here. Im a Newbie here too with SSL but you give me confidence..

My situation is Im using the same host but I use my store Intergrated with Xoops 2.0.x.

Everything seems to work fine until I try to add Items to the Cart I get Error....

Cookies must be enabled to purchase online on this store to embrace privacy and security related issues regarding your visit to this site..

I made sure My setting for security were on medium they were so I lowered them to the min. still get the error..

This is how the basic configuration looks with the setup I use..

Include '../../../mainfile.php';.

Define('HTTP_SERVER', XOOPS_URL ); // eg,.

Or -.

Should not be empty for productive servers.

Define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', XOOPS_URL );.

Define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', XOOPS_URL );.

Define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'false'); // secure webserver for catalog module.

Define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT', XOOPS_ROOT_PATH ); // where the pages are located on the server.

Define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/modules/shop/admin/'); // absolute path required.

Define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', XOOPS_ROOT_PATH'/modules/shop/admin/'); // absolute pate required.

Define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/modules/shop/'); // absolute path required.

Yep....I double checked and there are no spaces at the beginning or end of the file..

I'm at a loss...

Maybe this will help.....

On the store, images show up fine, following this path:.

In the admin, the show up as broken, following this path:.

Ok after playing around, here's what I come up with for my broken images problem..

That's what I have. It doesn't work..

This will work..

What do I need to change in my config file to make my images point to this?.

Mucho thanks...

You will need to change your configure.php files as follows:.

Define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.mysite.com');.

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://secure4.evenhost.com/~mysite');.

Dylan..

I'm lost Dyland.....

I changed that line to.

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://secure4.evenhost.com/~beeguys');.

I get a page not found and this is the URL it's trying to find:.

I've tried putting /~http://www.beeguys.com and /~www.beeguys.com and a variety of others just to see if it works all with the same results..

Just for my knowledge, where did the secure4.evenhost.com come from?.

Thanks again for the help/education..

Also, if there are any documents to refer to to help me in this, I'd appreciate it...

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://secure4.evenhost.com/~beeguys');.

'secure4.evenhost.com' is my host's SSL sitename, you'll need to put in your hosts SSL so yours would be.

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://hostxx.ipowerweb.com/~beeguys');.

Dylan..

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://hostxx.ipowerweb.com/~beeguysc');.

Is what I've got.... beeguysc is a username..

This works except the links are still broken. I tried.

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://hostxx.ipowerweb.com/`beeguys'); and I get page not found..

Could it be a hotlinking issue? I'm trying to find a way to disable hotlinking via ipowerweb control panel but haven't heard back from them yet..

Thanks......

In case anyone else is running into the same problem, here's what ipowerweb sent back to me:.

*.

If you want to enable the hotlinking just enter the following code in the .htaccess file,in the control panel, and when you wnat to disable it just remove this code..

RewriteEngine on.

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$.

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?your_domain.com/.*$ [NC].

RewriteRule \.(gif|jpg)$ - [F].

*.

Now, my admin folder is password protected via the nice little function ipowerweb gives in the control panel. When I take that password protection off, the images are still broken. I don't know what's up.... I'm trying to figure out this how to set up the .htaccess file and see if that helps...

I can't access.

Or.

- both come back with server not found. Is that the correct host name?.

Oops....

It should be host 55 instead of host xx.

Your catalog is located at.

And.

Your current link goes to.

Which fails, change the link and you should be fine..

Does that fix the problem?.

I'm aware of that... I don't have that as a live link because I'm not ready to go live yet..

My problem now is simply that my images don't show up in admin. They show fine in my normal pages, but not in admin. They show up as broken there...

Right click one of the broken images, select properties and see which URL they are referencing..

Dylan..

The URL is wrong for SSL - the URL.

Works just fine. You've missed the ~beeguysc bit out of the definition..

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', ....add ~beeguysc here.

This should help..

Dylan..

Yeah a friend of mine solved it up for me last night..

This line:.

Define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/catalog/'); // absolute path required.

Needed to be changed to this:.

Define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/~beeguysc/catalog/'); // absolute path required.

Thanks for the help!..

I don't think I have all of the answers here, but I think I'm getting close. From what I can tell, here's what you do:.

First, edit catalog/admin/includes/configure.php..

Replace.

"define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://yoursitename.com');".

With.

"define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://hostXX.ipowerweb.com/~username');".

Then, edit catalog/includes/configure.php..

Replace.

"define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://yoursitename.com');".

With.

"define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://hostXX.ipowerweb.com/~username');".

AND.

Replace.

"define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'yoursitename.com');".

With.

"define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'hostXX.ipowerweb.com');".

Don't worry about what pages you need to secure, that's already built in. It will secure some pages other than what you just mentioned like logging in and creating accounts..

Good luck...
