First question I got is Should you work out while on the Medifast Diet? Thanks in advance for any answer or 2. My 2nd question... Welcome to the home of the SHORTIES all those vertically challenged MFers!.

We are newbies and goals-met successes, young and well seasoned, single and married or divorced. We are diverse. We cover every area except the tall ones. Goodbye February..

I'm glad it's March and almost spring!.

March is a fun month for us because my husband's birthday is in March. We always plan a weekend away for each other on our birthdays. It's fun to plan and it's always good to get away together every once in a while. This year we won't be celebrating with food but I think we will enjoy retraining our brains to celebrate in other ways. I'm thinking of hiking, shopping, maybe geocaching, movies, just enjoying each other's company, swimming or hot-tubbing..

My brain is so conditioned to celebrate with food. I've got to convince it that there are other activities that it would find more enjoyable..

What does everybody else think? How are you going to celebrate special or even ordinary occasions from now on?..

Ruth - I like the idea of outdoorsy type stuff. And you can certainly make OP foods part of the celebration. I've given up trying to separate celebration from food because it is so ingrained in me. Some people binge when they're depressed, I'm a celebration binger. The happier I am the more I want to cram celebratory food in my face. But I am learning to tell the Inner Food Brat to shut up and leave me alone.

To the jump roper after 3 kids, jump roping causes me issues, you are lucky!.

My goal for this month when the scale doesn't budge for one particular week, don't freak out!.

Hi Everyone,.

I have been on the program for 2 weeks now and have lost 11.5 pounds. Yeah! I am 4'11" (that is what is says on my license anyway.

). My goal is 135. I know I will never be skinny, but at 135 at least I can wear regular petite sizes..

The Inner Food Brat is bugging me tonight, I think I'll just drink more water and go to bed early...

Down another 1.5 lb, which makes me happy..

Evenings are tough for me. That frig keeps calling my name. I wind up snacking more than I should, but I am trying not to. Also trying not to snack on sludge, but on healthy stuff. I should just go to bed, instead. Or find something to keep me busy.

Who knows?.

Jas0441 - welcome and CONGRATS on a wonderful loss. And kick that inner brat to the wall..

Robin - three kids here, too, plus a hysterectomy, and things like running, jumping rope, sneezing, etc all used to cause, uhm, leakage. So I was really really hesitant to start jogging with the C25k training. For some reason the weight loss and the walking have strengthened things, because I can now jog with no problems. And that is more exciting for me than the weight loss. Weird, I know, but true I am so happy about being able to run and jog and that will be the incentive to keep me going. (plus I love the endorphine high that comes after a long walk or shortish jog).

Kerry - I hear you about that stupid fridge. I wish it would just shut up because I already have a REALLY bad case of snackitis. Last week DD1 baked a batch of Kale chips. They were a little overcooked, but weighed almost nothing. She's going to do another batch and we're going to use them as "I must put something in my mouth and chew" snack. (they are mostly crunchy air)..

Hey everyone just topping been by to say hi! I have been busy today with cleaning and cleaning and more cleaning. I guess it isn't spring cleaning yet since it isn't spring.

I just found out that I have to get 4 wisdom pulled out. I don't wanna. I think I will probably have to not be OP the days after getting them pulled. I am not sure how long I have to wait before I can eat solids. Maybe a few days? Has anyone ever got their wisdom teeth pulled? I know I can have the shakes but my lean and green might be a problem..

I personally would like to celebrate by doing something special such as see a ballet, a play, etc. Or going somewhere we never went before. Doing outdoorsy stuff sounds great too. I have always wanted to try camping. How romantic is that being with your husband. Horseback riding isw another thing I always wanted to try or sky diving! Doing something you never did before and it would be an experience greater than food!..

I'm new - my name's Rachel, but workinonme fits, because other times I've thought about dieting it hasn't been for ME - so it didn't stick. I have two kiddos and a great husband, but I feel like I don't enjoy them enough, because I'm always so tired. I'm hoping MediFast will help me make the changes I need to make in my life. Plus, work and family make taking the time for prep hard - and this will be easier!! (In the short term anyway and as I feel better the rush wont be as fatiguing). whew - was that enough for telling Thursday?.

Those are great ideas, Sandy. Thanks! It shouldn't be too hard since we're both on Medifast together. I had 1 or 2 wisdom teeth taken out. It was years ago. I think they were able to just pull them but it seems like one of them broke so he had to take it out in pieces. I don't remember how long it took to be able to eat again.

Maybe you should ask the nutrition person about it..

One of the most helpful things someone told me about was how to search for things on this site..

Welcome to Rachel! Can't wait to hear how your journey goes. You'll probably feel really really tired (and even a little sickish) the first week, but plod through it. Stay On Plan 100% the first few weeks and that will make the rest of the journey easier. We all have/had horrible food habits that need kicking out of our life and going cold turkey on them is the best way. Truly. (notice I didn't say the easiest - but it is the best).

Hello New Shorties!.

Not much happening in my little corner of the world. I've been mostly OP yesterday and today. DH and I have been trading a mild stomach/intestinal virus back and forth for a couple of weeks now and I guess it was my turn again. Ah well. I did the best I could with what my tummy would tolerate. It feels like it's passing quickly, so I should be good for tomorrow..

I don't know why we keep passing this virus back and forth - must be all that kissing and hugging and stuff.....

Hi everyone. Happy Saturday! I had fun at the psychic yesterday! Turns out I will be pregnant in September or October with a girl. Which is really what I am hoping for. Well, not necessarily a girl but being pregnant.

We are ready to start a family now. It is funny how she said hubby get home in July (true), move in August (true) and September pregnant? All for entertainment purposes only but I hope it is true. If I do get pregant, I will definitely come back to medifast afterwards to rid the baby weight. We did go out to dinner last night and I had a salad with grilled shrimp and balsamic vinaigrette. Thanks for the nice welcome! I do have a question that I'm hoping someone can answer or point me in the right direction. Last night as I was going to bed, I noticed a taste in my mouth. I have read that when you go into keytosis that you can experience a sweet taste in your mouth but that it would take about three days for it to happen. Does anyone know if it can happen so quickly? I jumped on the scale this morning and it said I had lost three pounds. I know that must be a lot of water weight but am glad that I am in the 170's. It's been quite a while!!! Anyway.... any information would be nice! Thanks!!!..

Some people experience ketosis mouth sooner, some never do. It could also be from the sweetener in the Medifast food. Only time will tell..

Never had the mouth taste, at least not where I noticed. But I'm losing weight and that's really all I care about..

So how was your Saturday? (Sandy - love the predictions!) I don't know what we are thinking, but we are trying to turn a weed-infested, gopher haven part of the backyard into a place we can do some square foot vegetable gardening. We've been outside with shovels and a weed whacker most of the day - my head is ready for that weed whacker to stop any time now. The only consolation is that the area is loaded with earthworms. That, and the thought of having tomatoes, zucchini and peppers (among others) right outside my door..

As tiring as this day is, I'll take the 83* sunshine over the cold rainy stuff we've had this winter..

Did I mention spring has come to San Diego?..

I have had the most fun tonight! I had my 6'3" hubby get the box off the top shelf in the closet. The one with clothes that are too small. I tried them on and several things fit!!! It was so fun finding "new" clothes to wear AND putting some big clothes in the yard sale box! I'm down 2 sizes since I started Medifast in January! Yipee!!..

Hi all, weigh in day, down 1.4 but more importantly I conquered the 150 barrier, that has plagued me for the last several years. It makes me feel so great to be below that number. I know it is just a number, but I'm a CPA I focus on numbers!.

Here is my list of the good things that have came with the weight loss so far:.

1)hemorrhoids virtually gone.

2)most outfits don't show muffin top.

3)I can pack and outfit for the gym without trying on first to make sure I can button/zip.

4)i own better work clothes in smaller sizes.

5)no more "leaking" unless jumping.

Hi all! My name is Megan and Im 5'1" so I guess I "fit" in here. I have tried all kinds of things and nothing has worked, so here I am. Im in my first week and have committed to staying OP no matter what. I went off plan once and felt terrible the next day. My big motivation right now is a trip to aruba at the end of may and I want to lose 20 pounds. About me-i have a wonderful family-two little boys and a wonderful husband who is supportive.

- good luck with the wisdom teeth. I had all 4 out at once a while back and as I remember I ate mushy stuff for a bit. Not too long. I used a plastic spoon to eat with, it was easier..

Shakes will be great, puddings, soft serve. For L&G, maybe the Medifast dieticians can help you with ideas - choosing cooked veggies, making into a stew / soup and buzzing in food processor? Some of the Medifast soups might work great too..

Cauliflower "mashed potatoes" - yum!.

MF might be an advantage - you'll get all your vitamins etc, healthy protein, fat and carbs balanced, water for supporting the healing process..

Ruth - love your shopping trip! After church today, DD1 hands me a stack of clothes and says "here, try these on". Most everything fit - a couple shirts, a sweater a skirt and a pair of jeans. "Where'd you get these?" I ask. Well, the skirt is her's from about 10 pounds ago, but the rest is from DD3, who is going to faint when she learns mom is wearing her jeans!.

Good morning all! Had a NSV last night. I was SUPER hungry when I got home from work last night and I had the urge to binge. I had eaten all my food for the day and instead of doing something like go to TacoBell and saying eff it to the whole program, which I would have done in the past, I had some cauliflower and a slice of cheese. I know thats not OP but I was DYING and if I didnt eat something relatively safe, I would have eaten all kinds of stuff. So I ate my cauliflower with cheese and went to bed. Im so greatful this morning that I stuck with it and am OP today..

I'm on Day 4 and I'm 100% OP so far - YAY!!! My challenge has been eating everything, my appetite is sucking lately, so hopefully that will get easier..

I'm enjoying seeing all of the nurses here, my Mom's an RN too and will probably pop in - she's a shorty too and we're doing MediFast together now - she's starting Friday- how cool is that?.

- hang in there, the eating should get easier. What might help is instead of writing down food after you eat, plan out your day ahead of time, schedule your food and set a timer if you need to. You'll train your body to eat when it is supposed to..

- boy do I hear you on the MUST EAT thing. I tend to be a volume eater, I don't so much care what I eat as eating LOTS of it. And quickly. (those are two traits I am still working hard on correcting) There have been a handful of days in the last 8 months or so OP that I have had to eat some extra veggies or an ounce of protein just to stop thinking about food. (sometimes I'm hungry and sometimes not as much) You did the right thing - eating something on plan. Good for you..

Need Your Opinion:.

I had this number staring at me on the scale this morning, and I'm not sure what to do about it, because I'm betting on extenuating circumstances. Yesterday was a religious fast day, so I skipped two of my Medifast meals (been doing that once a month since I started, and the correctness of it is moot. My religious commitment comes before everything), and then I'd only water post 9pm last night because I had fasting bloodwork at Kaiser this morning..

My question is - would you record the weight, or get on the scale tomorrow morning for confirmation? Or give it another full week?..

Donna~ I would post the weight. In your previous fasting, has it affected your weight loss that much? I have fasted too since on Medifast and it doesn't seem to change my results any. So I think you're safe to go with it. I'm assuming you made your goal!! Congrats!.

Robin~ I made it to the 150 mark but not below it. I'm still happy. It was a 2.5lb loss for me which is about my average. I'm confident I'll bust 150 at next weeks weigh in!.

Welcome to all the newbies! I haven't checked in for a couple of days and I missed quite a few posts..

I'm dealing with an increased slow down in my losses. Talked to my coach and she pinpointed a few things for me - mainly that I was eating on the high end of the carb scale. (I love, love, love roasted broccoli, but it's going to be salad/spinach/spring mix for me for a while.) I'm going to order some of the lower carb shakes too to see if I can get this thing going. It is just so frustrating to see people who have lost all the weight I want to lose after being on this as long as I have (5 months). Me and my sloooow body - ugh..

Hope everyone is have a great week so far! It's cold and rainy here so taking a long walk outside is not in the cards for me today. That usually helps my mood...

Tabitha - you're averaging 7 pounds lost per month....that is AWESOME! Plus, you're almost half way there! I know it feels frustrating, but our most frequent Shorties mantra is Shorties Take Time. We just don't lose as fast as the taller or heavier or male people. Our weekly losses are going to average 0.5-2 pounds, with an occasional higher week tossed in there (or sometimes not). I just calculated mine, and I have averaged a 1.75 pound loss per week. It took me 34 weeks to lose 60 pounds. I like your idea of focusing on lower carb veggies for a few days.

I need to pay more attention to the carb count of my veggies. Thanks for the reminder...

Hi to the veteran shorties and welcome to all the newbies! Sorry to have been among the missing, but have been away, had a beloved dog undergo surgery and she's still recuperating, plus all the catching up personally and for my business that ensues when one comes back from being away..

Donna, thanks for the encouragement! I had pretty much gotten down to just eating broccoli and green beans for my greens as I love them so much (roasted). The broccoli I was also eating in an attempt to - ahem - move things along. It hasn't helped in that area, though. So yesterday at the grocery store I stocked up on some cucumbers, salad, and cabbage to try to get the carbs down. I think carbs are going to be something I fight with for the rest of my life. It truly is an addiction, I believe...

I'm a little bummed. I'm going to miss my zumba class tonight because I have to work. And my other zumba class this week is on my hubby's birthday so I was thinking about skipping it. What should I choose, hubby or zumba? He said he would go workout while I'm in class but it just doesn't seem like a birthday to me. Oh well, when you get as old as us, birthdays aren't that big of a deal anyway..

Tabitha~ I know how you feel. I want to lose 5 lb a week like all the tall people! It's so frustrating to me. I'm living with a 6'3" man who has lost 40+ lb in 6 weeks. But all my short friends on here help me to feel better about it. You just have to focus on what you're doing and not what others are doing. Hope the lower carb foods help!..

What are some of the lower carb shakes? I thought they were all about the same. I didn't even pay attention to which veggies have more carbs than others. Thanks for letting me know. My fave is yellow squash and zucchini. I need to chem them out. My losses have slowed down too but this past week I lost 1.4 lbs.

My losses are less than 2 lbs a week as well. Why do short people get the short end of the stick? Sorry had to make a joke. Hee hee...

Today's WI has me down .5 lbs. This close to goal, as long as it goes down, I'm content. Not thrilled, but content..

On a lighter note, yesterday I bought the first pair of sz. 6 pants I've ever owned. Woo-hoo! Gotta love Goodwill. When I get to goal, I'll invest in some new clothes, but for now, Goodwill is the way to go..

Tabitha, we're all in the same boat with "small" losses. But I suppose in reality the "small" is proportionately a solid amount..

Try not to over analyze too much, just enjoy the meals and stay OP, it all comes off eventually..

Sandy, the diabetic shakes are lower in carbs than the regular shakes. I'm going to order some and use them when I decide to have a higher carb veggie with my L&G. (Can't give up my broccoli totally, LOL!).

Nugirl, I feel the same way - I do love being "petite". But I have never *felt* petite because of my weight. I can't wait to get to the point where I actually feel like I belong in the petite classification, LOL!.

I don't know if it's due to adjusting my carbs or what, but for the past two weeks I've been fluctuating between 158 and 157. After choosing lower carb Medifast foods and eating spring mix for my green for 2 days now, the scale this morning said 155.2. So *something* has happened! I'm actually wondering if I may have been out of ketosis, as yesterday I had a pretty nagging headache and woke up this morning feeling sooo much better. Maybe there really is something to eating on the lower end of the carb scale - who knows?..

Glad you came by for a visit. One thing I didn't like about WW was always thinking about food. I love Medifast because if you want to really get into the whys and wherefores, you can. Sometimes I want to know why my weight loss slowed and sometimes I just don't care - I just want to eat. I did alot of planning at the beginning of 5/1, having a mostly leaner night, etc. But somewhere in there I decided to NOT test for ketosis every week at the clinic - I just didn't want to know.

(yeah, I have some emotional issues with dietingwho around here doesn't) So I decided to just stick OP and let the pounds fall where they will..

- you betcha birthdays are a big deal - celebrate it ANYWAY you want to! Last year I was the number after 49 and I did NOT want a to-do of any sort. Then Medifast came into my life last summer. I was 51 a few weeks ago and turns out being "that number after 49" was not the end of the world. I celebrated by insisting on just cards so DH and DD1-3 each got me some of the silliest cards ever. The big fold-out "I <3 Mommy" cards. I love it!.

- hugs! A friend at work is married to a Navy Seal and he leaves in 5 days for his fifth deployment in 8 years. He won't be home till 2012 (maybe a week in July). He has to work everyday up to leaving, so it doesn't do her any good to take time off. Even the dog is depressed - he's seen the luggage and he knows what that means. (and way to stick it to that scale! AWESOME)..

Hi ladies...another shortie (5'1" and big enough to blot out the sun). I had lost 19 lbs before on Medifast and then went to visit Mumsie. Bad idea. Then couldn't climb back on the wagon until this week. I'm REALLY hoping to stick with this as my 50th is staring me in the face. The bad news is - I'm going back to visit the parental units and will be gone 3 weeks, including 1 wek eating out in a foreign country.

I guess I need to learn to take things one day at a time, one meal at a time, right? So do we as shorties truly lose much slower than our amazonian sisters?..

I hit my Big goal of 160 in Jan. and then lowered my goal weight to 155lbs. I finally got to 155.8lbs this morning. Now on to 153.4lbs..

Shout out to my petite peeps. Still maintaining. For me, the trick is to continue to log my food and weigh myself once or twice a week, no matter what. For the logging, it's a bit more complicated since I am allowing myself "compound" foods, like stews and soups. E.g., I made an Indian side dish with cauliflower and peas (again, I'm in maintenance, and peas are NOT for 5&1). I was not going to cook everything separately and then weigh them, as I did during 5&1, so I had to guesstimate how many cups of cauliflower, peas, and other ingredients I ate in my serving..

Logging allows me to stay honest about how much I'm actually ingesting, and weighing myself, even if (ESPECIALLY if) I think I won't like the news ensures I can catch any scale blips before they get too large and confirms my eating plan is working..

As for our losses compared to the giants, yeah we tend to be the tortoises to their hares, but we all know how that story ended. ;-) It was hard not to invidiously compare myself to all the faster losers, but this group definitely helped me feel less discouraged and not alone. Plus, a smaller loss looks bigger on our less-vertical frames and often translates to more sizes down. I lost 38 pounds and went from a very tight size 14 to a loose size 6. Of course, it took 7 mos.! And that was OP all the time. Some MFers lose that in less than half the time.

And, for me, it's worth it...

Sue - Thank you. I can so relate to this. I lost 40lbs in six months where other Mf's Have lost that in 2months. I went from a size 16 to a 10. I would love to lose another 10. I have a feeling it's going to take me another 3 months. I am short not so fat anymore slow loser!..

Hey Shorties,.

I haven't posted recently - my head just isn't in the game so much any more. I've lost close to 70 pounds, and went from a size 2X to the point where some size 4's are loose. I haven't bought anything smaller than a 4, though..

But it's tax season now, and I'm very busy, so I don't want to transition now, but I'm also wondering if that "last 5 pounds" is just a number..

My ultimate goal was to get to 75 pounds lost - which translates into right in the middle of "healthy" BMI range for my size of 5'1" - 115 pounds. But I thought that I would then have the 5 pound cushion (bounce between 115 and 120). So now I'm waffling. Stop here? Keep MF'ing?.

Sorry for the ramble....

Sue, eating compound foods is one of the things that makes maintenance so important, and so much harder than 5/1. I can't see me have compartmentalized meals for the rest of my life because I love stews and chilis and soups. Nice to know there will be support for T/M eating, etc..

Keeping a food journal is something I am really working on because I'm not consistent and I know I must be. What are you using to journal your food? When I was on WW I was using their website feature of creating my own recipe, where I could enter all the ingredients, tell it how many servings and it would tell me the points per serving. I'll be in search of another website that does something similar for carbs and calories. I'm using My Plate on livestrong.com right now, but I don't know if it accepts custom recipes...

Hi all. Welcome new shorties! I've only missed 1 day on the boards but it seems like much longer. Such a busy week. Tonight is my hubby's b-day as I mentioned before. We are going to celebrate with presents tonight. Then my kids are leaving with their dad because believe it or not, it's also his birthday.

We just found out that we are currently in 1st place in the weight loss challenge we're doing! But it's by a very small margin so we have to keep working hard! No slacking off just because of a birthday. Anyway, the real birthday celebration will be in a little over a week when I take him out of town on a fun overnight trip. Have a good night everybody!..

Hello fellow shorties!! My name is Karla and as you can see by my nic, I fit right in, claiming 5'1", ALMOST. I am Workinonme's Mom, and I have to tell you that she is an awesome inspiration!! She has been 100% on plan EVERY day!!! I am really proudof her!.

I got my food yesterday, started today and so far, my 3 year old grandson, fought me for my chicken noodle soup..

He really liked it and each time I took a bite, it was his turn next..

I work 12 hour night shifts 3 to 4 nights per week, so I will try hard to stay on track and eat my 5 medifast meals a day. Sometimes, as I am sure other nurses here can relate to, it's hard to get a minute to ear!.

I'll look forward to getting to know you all!!..

The easiest site for recipe analysis I've found is.

You can actually copy and paste the ingredients (if you already have them on your computer) into the box. Just be careful (read their tips) about how you list an ingredient. It can be picky. Also be sure to enter number of servings, or, if you want the analysis for the entire recipe, say 1 serving. When it returns results, if any of the ingredients appear in red, it means it didn't count them. Sometimes it is unhappy with the way you entered the amount, or it doesn't understand what 1 LARGE head of cabbage means.

Sometimes, it's just ornery, and you can do a browse on food items and find it in their database, and add it in yourself..

I know I tried several other sites, including Livestrong, and so far I like this one the best...

So, it's my Saturday weigh in - at least it's a loss this week - down 1.2 to 69 lost - I feel like I keep losing this pound and then refinding it again for the last several months. But it's me not working Medifast properly - not Medifast not working!.

I know that. Arggh..

So, about 5 weeks and 75 more tax returns to go... or something like that. The next few weeks are going to be crazy busy...

Good morning fellow shorties!!! Happy OP Sunday to each of you!! My pizza crusts are in the oven!! I had a small cauliflower, so it only is making two and 1/2 crusts, so I made it into two meals and two 1/4 meals. Figured I could have a meal and a partial meal with something grilled another day!! Kind of like a 'pizza bread side'. I just hope they turn out!.

I need all of your expertise please!! Can any of you tell me about PB2? Do any of you eat it? I am not a huge PB fan, but my daughter loves it and the reeses cups with Peanut butter and hot cocoa mix. This will save her a lot of fat, and I may have one also!!.

Is it a snack? I can't find it listed anywhere, but the fat, carbs and calories are really low! I see regular peanut butter, but this seems so much better!! I figure since regular peanut butter is a snack, this is where it should fit?.

PB2 is a snack, here's a link to what Medifast says about it:.

For many PB is a trigger food (sets them off on a binge). If it is for you, get rid of it. You wouldn't believe the foods I can't eat because they still make me binge. I've learned to throw out food though since I've started MF. I realize that I won't help any starving children in china and that I'll only hurt myself by keeping it around..

The cauli-pizza is something I still make in maintenance. It tastes better than the junk from the pizzeria and I don't miss "normal" pizza at all...

Hi,.

I lost 1.2 this week, I was happy I had to travel for business and I was able to stay on plan. It made me feel great to know how it wasn't that hard to do. I had been worrying about it for days. The only bad part were the clothes I packed were too big!.

So this weekend I went through my closet and brought out the size 8 clothes. I put away all my 12s, and about half my 10s and brought out about half my 8s. I think I need to loose about 5 more pounds for the rest to come out. It.

Was a bit shocking to see how baggy some of my clothes had gotten, these clothes were tight in January!.

I'm finding being on Medifast is so convenient for tax season. I'm working like crazy, but everything is planned out and doesn't require a ton of thought..

Btw: I been adding a little pb2 or sometimes real peanut butter to my shake cookies. I tablespoon a batch which is 2 servings, it really jazzs the cookies up..

Robin - great job pulling out the 8's. I had gotten rid of all of my smaller clothes, so now I'm buying them (borrowed some on the way down - but now I'm smaller than the people I borrowed from)..

So, today I scored at Kohl's again - but this time, broke down and didn't just buy on clearance - I did have a 15% off coupon, and the two pencil skirts (size 4) were on sale - so I got each of them for about $21 (pre tax). Not as great as being on clearance, but I'm having more trouble finding things on clearance in the smaller sizes..

I like Medifast for tax season too - it just gets dicey when my clients come in back to back and I don't get a break to eat every few hours sometimes. That's why I bought some of the Ready to Drinks - can chug one of those down in about 2 minutes, if necessary..

Robin, make sure you get rid of all your clothes that are too big. You never want to go there again and if you keep them around it's too easy to ignore any weight gains once you hit goal. I know for me, the prospect of out growing my currently limited wardrobe is cringe-worthy. I won't let myself get there...
