Got a question, hope someone can answer... Stretching a background image on iPage? Hoping for any comment. My other question... I received notification from PayPal that it has received payment. When I look into customer orders in my e-shop configuration it says that the customers account was last modified on the date that I received payment from Paypal, but it shows no orders for this customer? How could a payment been process on PayPal, but no order placed? I have no record of what the customer ordered!!! HELP Thanks..

I used to use this as a standard reply before the later version came out, but it may help you....

For OSCommerce 2.2 MS.

Other later versions have IPN installed.

Your store & PalPal,.

The way it works ....

Your customer makes an order, this is stored in the session cookie, when the customer goes to PayPal to make their payment this information goes with them..

They log in and the complete the payment, once successful they go elsewhere and browse/shop on other sites, or switch off the PC, in any event the information has not been passed back to your iPage site and the info on the order is lost!!.

The first you will know of it is when you get your email from PayPal telling you that someone has made a payment..

Because the customer did not return (bringing all of the info with them) the database has not registered any purchase, you should however see that this customer has created an account, not what they have bought..

You have a few ways to go to rectify this,.

First off if on the PayPal receipt where the order should be you have your store name, you need to replace your paypal.php file.

You can get it from the link it's a one for one replacement..

This method continues from the replacement of the paypal.php,.

Log into PayPal, go to profile > iPage website payment preferences > Select Auto return to ON > return url is your web iPage site address followed by /checkout_success.php now save your settings..

What happens here is the once the customers payment is successful they are redirected to your web iPage site where the data base is updated, an order e mail is sent and you know what your customer has bought..

This method in my opinion is better for high volume sales..

Another way,.

Install PayPal IPN from the contributions,.

This creates a temporary retaining entry in your database, so if your customer does not return then the order is locked into the temporary part until you either accept or delete it, the downside is that all other orders are stuck there too, so if your iPage site is high volume you need to filter through it and delete all non paid orders..

With PayPal IPN all of the Info is carried so you do not need to change your return in PayPal or if you do then just put in checkout_success.php.

Still this is the one that I recommend for all users..

Thank you so much for helping me..

I tried to do what you said.

" First off if on the PayPal receipt where the order should be you have your store name, you need to replace your paypal.php file.

You can get it from the link it's a one for one replacement.".

I can't find where the PayPal receipt has my store nameI'm looking in PayPal under Transaction details for the order. So I couldn't replace my paypal.php file. I'm totally confused on this part..

I did log into PayPal, go to profile > iPage website payment preferences > Select Auto return to ON > and put the return URL as my iPage website store address followed by /checkout_success.phpHowever, when researching my problem on the forum another person said to change the return URL to checkout_process.php not checkout_success. php. Which is the correct URL?.

You don't know how much I appreciate you helping me. I'm a novice and would be lost without your kindness..

THanks again,.

Delores..

Dear Fimble please help me!!! I tried to do what you said.

" First off if on the PayPal receipt where the order should be you have your store name, you need to replace your paypal.php file.

You can get it from the link it's a one for one replacement." I couldn't replace my paypal.php file because I don't know where to find it. I looked under file manager and could not find a paypal.php file. I'm totally confused on this part..

I did log into PayPal, go to profile > iPage website payment preferences > Select Auto return to ON > and put the return URL as my iPage website store address followed by /checkout_process.php not success. php because when researching my problem on the forum another person said to change the return URL to checkout_process.php not checkout_success. php. I did a test purchase and it seemed to work great. I also received an order and it also worked great, but then two days later I received and order and it was back to the problem of that I received notification from PayPal, but not from OSCommerce and there was no customer order on file..

Do you know why it works sometimes and other times not?.

THanks again for all your help..
