First question I got is There are so many diet programs: Nutrisystem, Nutrisystem...which has the heaviest bottom line? Hoping for any answer. 2nd question I got is.. Hi guys,.

Sorry if this is going to bring everybody down but I felt the need to memorialize a special bond tonight, and I think there are lessons that maybe some of you can relate to..

Today I said goodbye to a friend with whom I have had the most pure relationship ever, my dog and faithful companion Shiloh. He was our 12 year old German Shepherd, and it feels like I left a big part of me lying there in the veterinarian's office..

He was loyal, brave and fearlessly protective. He was hard-headed, belligerent, and ill tempered. In short, he was imperfectly perfect, and he was mine to the end..

Perhaps the most painful part of this is that reflected in him as he was dying I saw my own imperfections. While there was a time that he and I were inseparable, constantly running and walking together, over the years I found myself devoting less and less time to him, to the point that I really took him for granted. Of course it got worse when the twins were born. Although he immediately accepted them into the family when they finally came home from the hospital, guarding over them at night, and patiently taking whatever they could dish out during the day, his place in the family was further diminished..

This all struck me as I sat there with him, that this relationship was just a microcosm of what was previously happening in many aspects of my life. Even my relationship with myself had suffered from neglect, allowing me to put on tons of weight and wallow in what I could only describe as self-loathing. Discovering Nutrisystem and starting to change my life was really just the beginning. I still have a lot of work to do, lots of relationships to fix. Right now I'm just grateful to this silly dog, who in his passing taught me one last lesson. I have a lot of reflection to do to completely make sense of all of this, but I would challenge each of you to look around yourselves and see if you're not missing some of those that are closest to you..

I could tell you stories about this crazy dog all night, but won't bore you. I will just say that having him in my life all these years was a fantastic experience, and I will look forward to seeing him again one day. Here's a picture of him on a happier day...

Bill, I can so relate to your loss. 20 months ago I lost my 12 year old Male shepherd, Daytona, and I still tear-up just thinking about him, in fact as I am as I type this... It's just something you never get over. Daytona replaced my beloved all black female shepherd Sierra, more tears... Today I'm the happy owner of a beautiful 15 month old female shepherd, Silka. We could never imagine not having a shepherd in our house, she is my best bud and the protector of my wife and son.

I have a 14 1/2 year old Dalmation and know that one day she'll be gone. I'm so attached to her that she follows me everywhere I go in the house, even into the bathroom. I feel for you..

This may help....

My condolences, Bill. I lost my 15 year old black lab Domino a couple years ago; It still hurts. He was basically my kid..

Although I'm about ready to get another lab, we've held off as we live in a townhome & we want to have a yard for our next one. I don't think I can wait any longer!..

Would maybe consider getting another dog and fast, Bill. Transfer some of that love to something living. know it sounds thoughtless, but...has worked for my Mom...
