Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe:.

1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to:.

1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstenance from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

Getting the banner:.

1. Copy the following text using your favorite method:.

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to that question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you help..

Morning Steph!.

I have a long day ahead as well. I do run the stage crew at a local high school and we build and work on the sets on Saturdays. At least the snow is going to start until we are all at school working. Tomorrow is mine. I am hoping for 40 degrees tomorrow. I need an outside run..

I had a really tough day yesterday. No trouble staying OP, just seemed like everything was going wrong in my day and it was really getting me down..

The old me would have come home and had a big glass of wine to take the edge off, but it didn't even enter the mind of the new me..

I just crabbed on my dh and son instead. lol!..

We are going out to dinner tonight with some family and I'm really not looking forward to it..

I know I will be able to find something OP and all will be fine. It just seems that eating out doesn't hold the same appeal for me that it used to. It doesn't give me all those feel good, happy feelings..

It's not the people I will be with. I love them. I would just rather be at home playing a game with them or something like that..

I know none of this is really making sense right now. I haven't had enough caffeine yet to articulate very well..

I guess this is what people go through that are addicted to other things too. My addiction is food, so it's probably natural for me not to go to a place that it's sole purpose is to serve food since I'm trying to break the addiction...

I really do appreciate and value this group. Even though I can't check in as much as I want, I try to read all the posts when I can and just knowing that I can come here and NONE of you are going to tell me it's ok if I had a moment of weakness and went off plan, makes me want to always stay OP. I love that you won't coddle me..

I also appreciate the honesty of those that have made slip ups and have told us. I want to know that if I do something bad I can come here and get smacked..

Ergggh...morning.....

Stayed up really late to watch the movie Red. It was a hoot! Glad I did. I have a nap on order for this afternoon now. I just can't do 4 hours of sleep any more..

Lots of errands to run today and the town just called us to say that half the town will be shut down to vehicles due to a large funeral procession for about 4 hours. *sigh* So need to run the far away ones now and I'll walk to the others later..

Right now, coffee and a bar with a cuddly parrot on my lap...

Good morning everyone! Busy day (weekend) here too - quick shopping trip with friends, getting nails done (putting fake nails back on), then do work I brought home from the office, taxes, laundry and cleaning for the rest of the weekend. I live such an exciting life! LOL!.

Penny - good job on avoiding the che**se. Is it that you choose not to have dairy, or that it was the wrong type of ch**se to be OP..

On the topic of Mexican food (from last night), I don't do it often but I love going to our favorite Mexican place and ordering the "pollo a la parilla" which is just grilled chicken breast covered in grilled mushrooms and onions, sort of like fajitas. I think it usually comes with cheese on it but I ask them to leave it off. I give my DH the rice or beans or anything else that comes along. And I put a little salsa on top of the chicken breast. It has all the good Mexcian flavors and I feel fully satisfied with it. the hardest part is staying away from the chip basket, but my family usually devours them so fast, I don't have much of a chance anyway! LOL.

Anna - good job on getting all the flights arranged. I swear I'm getting excited about your hubby coming home. You need to get a picture of your reunion (oops - I mean just the initial hug! LOL) to share with us..

About the flights yesterday. Thanks again for all the support about the seatbelt. I am walking on cloud 9. On the flight out there wasn't anyone sitting next to me so I didn't notice how much space I was or was not taking up. But on the flight home I had someone next to me and I was pretty tightly packed into my seat - still. In fact, as the flight progressed the armrest between us kept creeping up because my thigh was moving under it and on to the next seat.



If any of you have ever had to endure sitting next to someone who was taking up too much room - I apologize - and thank you if you were kind about it. Purchasing two seats is an impossibility if I'm paying for it, and it is not an option if work or someone else is paying for it..

I work on helping to prevent and reduce tobacco use, and we always talk about secondhand smoke affecting others. I've heard the argument that our obesity doesn't hurt anyone else, but I completely disagree. Every time I've infringed on someone else's airplane seat, I've had an impact on that person. And one of my two son's is severely obese. My husband and my other son are not, so I think it's pretty clear how he deveopled the bad habits (in addition to just inheriting the "fat gene" or "slow metabolism" or whatever it is genetically that he got from me). We do impact others.

, I didn't actually book the flights, just started searching (I am OCD about planning, I can't even go out to dinner spur of the moment b/c it freaks me out).. the flight for my dh to get here from DC can't be purchased until probably the day before he won't have his ticket out of Kuwait until then BOO!.

I will see if someone will take a pic of us in the airport.

And we'll definitely take some with the boys once we're home!.

Good Morning all!.

Gotta leave for work in 30 mins and I am barely awake! Working Saturday is a bummer but it's work!.

Chickie- I hear you about going out. I'm meeting friends at a restaurant and it's not quite as fun for me to watch them drink wine and eat bruschetta while I chug my water. I may just have a diet coke darn it. Ive got to remember I'm there for the socializing not the food. Just seems those two things go hand in hand..

Good morning, TLers! I might not have the ability to pop in unless it's from my phone over the weekend, so I thought I'd check in now..

TKD, no the cheese was regular provolone so nowhere near being OP. And I'd already planned my dinner, so it would just not have fit in anywhere. I agree with you about our obesity having a definite impact on others. The thigh creeping on the plane is minor. Think about healthcare costs. Obesity kills more people than smoking now.

I won't even attempt to get on a soapbox - it's way too early - but I'm happy we're all in here doing our part to change the statistics..

I had to giggle last night when hubby was ticked off because I bought a new laundry basket - 2 weeks ago - for DD. She already had one, but this one is a slimline one that will fit better in her room when (if) he ever puts her new desk together. Wait until he hears I booked a cruise! I may wait until April after all to break the news! Bwahahaha!..

Penny - Actually when the CDC released the stats about obesity killing more people than smoking they were wrong and later retracted that statement. There was something amiss with the analysis. BUT - it won't be long. With the trends being what they are, when obesity overtakes smoking as the leading cause of preventable death, it will hit like a tsunami. Not like anything we've ever seen before. In fact my agency is beginning to work on promoting nutrition and fitness in addition to tobacco control - and therein lies the greatest hypocrasy of my life.

But I will be and I am on my way!.

OH - and before I get smacked. When I mentioned the grilled onions on the Mexican chicken breast, I know onions are not OP (bummer and a half), so I take them off when the dish arrives. But at least I get their flavor in the chicken.

Chickie and Steph in AZ - I know what you mean about not quite being able to enjoy the time with others who are drinking wine or otherwise enjoying a meal. Fortunately I've been able to have my L&G whenever I've been out with others so it isn't SO bad. But I have to say the glass of wine the other night was pretty darn tempting. My best friend had a lap-band the day I started Medifast and she was drinking wine and I was envious. On the other hand, I get to have all this great Medifast stuff and a real L&G every day - so there are trade offs...

Good Morning!!.

Today is another work day for me, usually the busiest of the week. Tomorrow I'll be shopping with my cousin and her daughter for a few hours before relaxing with hubby at home. My house is a disaster, my taxes are just a jumble of papers in a cardboard box and my hair needs dying..

So, since switching to the newer scale, my weight is dropping slowly, so tomorrow I'll bite the bullet and post the new "correct" weight. Not really looking forward to it, but I have to remember that my weight is dropping, and I'm OP, so the number is just a measuring mark. But, I'm soooooo attached to the number!! Oh, btw, I tried to replace the battery in the old scale, but it's one of those ones that has no opening for the battery, it's sealed deep inside somewhere, so into the bin it goes..

I'll be checking in from my phone today, will post if I have time..

Good Morning TLer's!.

I have returned to my restless sleeping patterns. In recent months I have been sleeping like the dead, which is highly unusual for me, and would wake up and just want to stay in bed. Now I'm not sleeping quite so deeply and am able to hop out of bed in the morning (I know, I'm a weird one). I am thinking that this is due to the increase in my thyroid meds, which I am hoping will make a difference with my weight as well. We'll see on Monday..

Weekend is going to be a hodge podge of running errands, working on the spreadsheet from he;; and hanging in my tree reading..

Steph - I WISH I was working on filing my taxes! They are actually almost done, but I haven't gotten DH's W-2 yet and I'm getting more irritated by the day!.

Chickie and TKD - All I can say is SMOOCH!.

Mexican restaurants - the only restaurant I will not go in. Way too tempting for me. I would have a hard time resisting the chips. I know my limitations..

Morning TLers. Busy weekend for me, too, as well as dinner out..

I HEAR YOU, CHICKIE..

I have all the stuff to make De's tofu soup, lots of other fresh veggies - I just want to stay at home and eat some nice MF, OP comfort food..

I run so much during the week, all I ever want to do is stay home on the weekends. I hate it when we have lots of things planned...and for me 'lots' is more than 1.

This week I had 3 days at HQ - that's the 60 mile commute - two of which were snowy..

Speaking of snow....We were supposed to get 3-5 inches last night, but only about 1 materialized. That's fine with me. Enough to cover up the dirty brown snow and not too much to make traveling hazardous. Whoever's off the the ski slopes....<envy>.

Here's a recipe I got off the boards when I was brand new. It really kicks the Mexican craving to the curb. It lasts me a whole week's worth of lunches. All the notations are from the original post.

CROCK POT CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP (Tortilla Soup!).

7 packets Chicken Noodle Soup.

1 packet Cream of Chicken Soup, if desired (can also use Cream of Broccoli for unique flavor).

Season as desired: garlic powder/salt, onion powder/flakes, cilantro, parsley, basil, tarragon, etc).

6 - 8 cups water.

1 can Rotel tomatoes.

Cook 4-6 hours in the crockpot. Divide into 7-8 servings, depending of the number of Medifast Packets used..

Count as veggie for each serving. Can be refrigerated for up to 7 days or frozen..

I always use a cream soup packet, usually chicken, but COT is really good, too. Never tried it with the broccoli. Mine usually makes 8 cups, which is perfect. Mine also gets quite thick, so I add extra water when I'm portioning out my 1 cup. Very filling, very satisfying..

I'll try and check in throughout the day- I've really been missing you guys at work!! Gotta get some things done and find a good restaurant choice before my house-guest arrives..

Morning TL......So started out in a much better place emotionally.

I thought I was going to be painting doors today but the hot water heater is broke and when H gets home from work, he will need the path to do his man stomping, *** routine while he figures it out so I will save that job for tomorrow......

Waiting for one more piece of interest paperwork and I can file our taxes and I was actually almost brought to tears, for the first time in years thanks to the tuition credit this year, the taxes are in OUR favor..........

Oh taxes... I'm self-employed so it's always a surprise for me. I finally found a great accountant two years ago and she's really helped. I hope those of you dealing with taxes have a good day.

I dropped another pound this morning. My sister is moving into town today. Tomorrow I get to see a crush that seemed interested in me the last time I saw him. This weekend is making me smile..

Talk about rubbing salt in my very open wounds! Just got an email reminder to check in for our flight to Puerto Rico for the cruise. Guess no one sent them the memo that we had to CANCEL 2 months ago!!! Now I'm all depressed again. <sigh> It's funny, because of the death of MIL, we got a full refund from the airline. <shaking head>..

I frequently did the same thing on 5&1, although I think we used to be allowed a little onion as a condiment - maybe it was green onion, I've slept since then. Dunno if that's still the case. Anyway, that way I could cook for the family and just scrape out the onions for my portion. I cooked a lot of crockpot dishes in those days, so I could get the flavor into the foods..

Onion salt and onion powder are also great for that - just watch out and don't go over your allowed condiments for the day!..

Still allowed something like 1 TBSP onion as a condiment. Green onions/scallions count as a green. I often cooked with large pieces of onion so get the flavor in meat and then removed the chunks from the dish...

Mmmm Mexican food. That is the only thing I miss. Not the fake mexican with tons of cheese, but the real homemade kinda with delicious sauces... I'll stop there. I think I drooled..

It's a beautiful day and I find myself looking outside wishing I was doing anything but sitting at my desk. Part of my weightloss goal is to get back to being active. Hiking, biking, and just being outside. That includes the weeding that needs done :/.

I have to admit that I've been getting lazy with the measuring out exact portions (I tend to do less than I should) this week. I weighed myself this morning, I haven't lost anything yet this week. Big sign that doing it the right way works and that eyeballing it doesn't work. So I'm gonna be a good TL'r and wait to eat the L&G I brought to work and eat it for dinner so I can go back and correctly weigh everything...

COLD in Jersey today. I went out to break up ice off the driveway. We had about 12" of snow mid week, and we are expecting a "significant" snow fall this week..

Just a drive-by, I haven't caught up. Having an amazing weekend with Morty. Hearts bunnies unicorns and a choir of angels and wow is he sweet to me. He dropped me off at my 4-hour class today, and is picking me up in 53 short minutes. Yay!!! And while I'm in class, I have ear plugs in and am getting some good work done for Law Review. Yay for pass/fail classes and sitting in the back row!.

Hope everyone is having an amazing 100% OP day! No chopped tofu, and definitely no steamed broccoli! (Except at Outback last night with Morty. I like it there.).

Been roasting veggies all mornings for a couple of things. My creamy veggie soup which I will NOT wear this time, and I had a bunch of tomatoes that were going to go bad soon, but still usable, so I roasted them up with some green onions and made a nifty chunky tomato sauce that I can use for the base of a soup that CC loves or for a marinara. My house smells so good! This is why I love to cook. Makes me happy happy!..

Sorry I wasn't around yesterday. I was spending the day being emo. After figuring out the $$$ situation for Feburary I can't afford the dentist and MF. So I'm taking Feb off. It sux balls though since today I realised my pants are getting loser which is good since I can't really fit into most of them without said muffin top. I just hope I will still be welcome here in March..

Hey there. I have not checked in for a few days. Sorry about that. I have just been so busy with everything I have not had time to come and read the thread. Tomorrow morning I will be driving a car full of art work down to a university about 2.5 hours away to install it in their university gallery. I already packed the car a little bit ago so I think I am ready.



Just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone. Still 100% Op and working out my 6 days a week. I have upped my cardio to 45 min starting today! So, this is a good thing..

I am chilling out a little with the guy I have been hanging out with all most non stop. We ran into some issues and I am unsure how I feel about it so I told him I needed a week to think about it. It sorta makes me sad because I am really into him or the thought of him, unsure which, I guess. Anyway, have a good week end everyone...

I tried the turnip fries tonight. They weren't bad, just a little too much seasoning salt on them for my tastes and slightly "flaccid" (hee hee). Congrats on your loss!..

LOL @ Connor...yeah mine were pretty wimpy too....but they tasted okay (i just put 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/8 tsp onion powder, and a dash of sea salt on mine)..

After I cooked my turnip fries I broiled them. They weren't crispy but were less pathetically flaccid...
