Got a question, hope someone can answer... What are all the Medifast recipes in harvest moon friends of mineral town? Many thanks for any comment. Another question on my mind: I've been seeing alot of posts mentioning eating mashed potatoes. My Dr. says no potatoes for 6 months, just wondering if they are good to try at almost 4 months out. Must admit, I did try some instant potatoes, what are your opinions about instant? They do have fewer carbs...

I made a High Protein, Low Carb Twice Baked Potato this week..

Hollow out the baked potato, retain 1/4 c..

Mix FF cottage cheese, Tofu, FF Ricotta, FF sourcream in Medifast food processor. mix with potato..

Mash potato and mixture together..

Fill half potato skin, top with LF Cheddar Cheese and Turkey Bacon..

Broil to melt...

I had instant mashed potatoes early out it was awesome! I added UNJURY.. unflavored protein to the potatoes and to the instant gravy packets I used on it... it's good stuff!..

Personally, I don't do potatoes, rice, bread, crackers, pasta... simple white carbs too easy to go down and not enough bang for your nutritional buck (protein versus carbs), scale stoppers (or worse) IMHO. YMMV...

What about yams... don't they have more nutrition than white potatoes?..

My surgeon said no complex carbs for 6 months, and to.

Avoid.

Any white ones. So, I haven't tried them, and won't for a long time. Too man other things to eat that I need (protein protein protein)...

Cornell, Duke and UFL are a few well respected bariatric centers that include baked potato on their menus. I think finding ways to include small portions of allowable carbs, bolstered with high protein ingredients, may prevent kamikaze attacks on McDonald's Drive thru for FF or a bag of Lay's Potato chips (not my favorites, but for some)...

I tried mashed potatoes during the mush faze and they didn't sit well with me..

They are not prohibited by my plan/doctor, but not much is in terms of restrictions..

I don't like processed stuff, so instant wouldn't be a good option for me..

I do occasionally make like one Yukon gold baked (like a new potato size) but like Shelly say's not enough density per calories for me..

YMMV...

Thinned mashed potatoes were the only thing I could have besides the SF jello, SF pudding. I would mix the potatoes with cream of mushroom soup or use the soup packet in ramen noodles as my thinner...
