First question I got is What are some good Medifast recipes for a rice cooker? Thanks for any comment. Second question.. I was feeling great and everything earlier and now I am freaking out. I am an advocate about keeping myself clean and have followed everything to a "t". One of my concerns was developing a SSI (surgical site infection) which this is really weird but I did at one of the sites. I was just in to the doctor's on Tuesday to have my drain removed.

Once I noticed the change on that site I called immediately and the doctor informed to bump my appointment from Tuesday to Monday and that she would call in an antibiotic. I told her I would feel more at ease if I went to the ER or Urgent Care and she said not to as all they would do is put me on an antibiotic and ask me to follow up w/ the surgeon and wasting money I dont have..

Has anyone else experienced a surgical site infection? How quickly did it heal? What did you guys do? I am so nervous about this..

Josie..

Brooklyn:.

Thanks for your feedback and concern. I realized it was an infection based on the guidelines that I was given when I was discharged from the hospital. The incision site became red. I had the steri-strip at the incision which is white and realized it had turned completely yellow. I immediately called the doctor's office and they advised me to take off the strip at the site and drainage started coming out. They did call in an antibiotic for me but I was just really surprised how quickly this happened. I was just at the doctor's on Tuesday and everything was well and then comes Thursday afternoon and this happens...

Infections can occur quickly. It is not anything you did or didn't do. It isn't a matter of you not keeping it clean enough. We all have bacteria on our skin and sometimes they just take the opportunity when we are stressed and can grow. (and having.

Surgery.

Is a stress on your body)..

It could have been from a wide variety of things from the hospital to coming home that caused the infection. You will never be able to pinpoint one thing that caused it..

My husband's drain site was infected post op. The dr. gave him an antibiotic and it cleared up nicely. Just be sure to take all of the antibiotic. Don't stop taking it just because it is looking better. You have to take the whole course.

Keep the site clean and dry. Keep it covered with a clean gauze. Wash it twice daily with a mild soap and water and it should heal up for you..

Send me a message if you have any other questions that I can help youu with..
