I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can help you..
How far post op are you? I'm pretty sure you aren't as far as I am, and I know I wouldn't be able to handle the jerky. Way too dry for me. Sounds like it may be a combination of all 3...too dry of meat, too fast, and drinking to soon. I have to agree with ivyrow...please be careful..
I will definitely be more careful. I'm almost 4 wks post-op and I thought it would be a great protein filled little snack...er, not so much I guess. LOL I guess I'll stick to cheese or broth..
I can relate. I did okay with the jerky. I have thrown up with Medifast food that I ate two days before without problem. I've really tried to listen to my body's signals. I've discovered that if I have even one hiccup when I'm eating it is time to stop. When I follow this rule I have no issues.
And this seems very weird.... my nose will start to run a little. That is my other queue that it is time to slow down and stop..
I'm only a week ahead of you. I.
You can discover what the signals are for you.. so you can prevent the vomiting..
Hang in there....
I tried jerky and smoked salmon in my 8th week, and while I didn't struggle with it at the time, I gained 5 lbs water weight and it took a week to get back to losing...
I get no beef until after week six...and it has to be ground...Jerky is wonderful, but it is also hard as a rock...how did you think it was gonna sit on that new little belly? so not a good idea...
Mandy you gotta start thinking what is gonna come behind what you eat....
Jerky is a good high protein snack when you get farther out, if you take the sodium content into consideration for your whole day...salt is a water retainer...plus it is just generally not good for you...the rda of sodium is 2400 mg..that is one teaspoon..when you look at the foods you eat, you will see just how much sodium is in food...and God help you if you pick up a salt shaker like so many people do..even before they taste the food..
Learn to use other spices, and No-salt has the same flavor without the sodium..like everything else, you gotta get your mind right over stuff like this...
Hey Mandy! I am almost 4 weeks post op, and I cannot imagine trying to eat beef jerky! My nutritionist allowes me to eat turkey or ham lean lunch meats. They are moist. Maybe that would work for you. You do have to be careful about the amount of sodium.....
Welcome to GBS this is an everyday thing that happens you might try and eat the same thing again and be fine , this new tummy of ours has good days and bad days with Medifast food you just never no whats going to do and when some people have called it the only roller coaster ride that you never get off .This is very norm..
Be careful, Mandy...that little pouch of yours is very fussy. The difference between pre op and post op is the "pouch will reject" anything it can't or will not digest...at least for now. Like everyone said here...think long and hard about what you decide to eat. Its not hand to mouth anymore...its, choice,.
, hand to mouth now...
Hey Ms Mandy,.
I'm wondering why you were drinking something after eating? I experienced before quite a bit when I would try to eat anything my pouch didn't like in addition to not eating slowly enough and chewing well enough..
It may be a combo. Remember, what didn't work for us today may in a week or two. Eggface shared that with me a long time ago and it resonates with me still, today..
Hang in there... Everyday with WLS is a challenge but you can do it!.
