That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could answer your iPage question..
HST is the same process as GST... Just curious as to why you need to charge HST if you don't live in the Maritimes?..
As far as I know from RevCan, selling to other Canucks requires collecting the taxes for that province..
Jim in NL..
Well, that's news to me. I was under the impression that we only needed to collect the taxes in the province that we reside and charge GST for the remainder of the country...
That's correct. But for the provinces that only collect HST, that is the tax rate since there is no GST rate for these areas..
So I'm led to believe.....
So, if I sell you something and you live in Ontario, I only have to charge you 7% GST & not the PST right?..
My understanding is that a business is only responsible for the federal tax portion, i.e. GST in most provinces, HST for most of the Atlantic provicens...
Well, I almost had it right.... I just modified my store to reflect NL & NS.... already had NB as this is my province of residence..
Thanks a lot for this post... I'm glad that I saw it... makes more sense for me now!!!..
