First question I have is What is iPage.com, what is it used for? Many thanks for any answer or 2. Second question.. I'm having problems with getting an "Upcoming Product" displayed in the catalog. I have added an item in to the catalog and set it up so that is not currently in stock but due to arrive in stock on a future date..

This has registered on the catalog because on the bottom of the main page, it says "Upcoming Products" and then lists the name of the product as well as the date on which it is expected. However, when I click on this product to get details of the product, all I get is a page saying "Product not found!". Has anybody else come across this problem before? I searched the forum but couldn't find this problem listed anywhere..

Many thanks for your help in advance. It is hugely appreciated...

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to that question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could help you..

It does show it, under "Upcoming Products". But that's not the problem, the problem is that when you click on the item listed, it then says "Product not found"..

Surely this is a bug and not intended to work in this fashion..

From what I understand of PHP so far and I'm only a newbie, I think what needs to be done is to modify lines 17 and 253 of the product_info.php file so that it includes products with status 0 if the p.products_date_available != 'NULL'..

Ie..

Replace: p.products_status = '1'.

With : (p.products_status = '1' or (p.products_status = '0' and p.products_date_available != 'NULL')).

On line 17 and 253 of product_info.php..

That's the best way isn't it? Enlighten me...

In fact, having reached the "future date" when I said my product would be available, I then had to manually go into the Adminsitration section and edit the product to set the "Products Status" to "In Stock" from "Out of Stock" because otherwise a potential customer would not be able to see it at all. Shouldn't that happen automatically on the date that the product is due to be made available?..

What if it doesn't show up?.

Also, understand that as it only runs on demand, osCommerce does not have any way to set up time dependent actions. Those would need to be set up in something like cron..

Hth,.

Are you sure?? I believe all the products that I had set a future date on, are now showing in my catalog......

Yes, I'm, sure..

I'll do another test and report back just to make sure though. Does your upcoming products disappear from the "Upcoming products" list and go into your catalog chfields?..

So....

I'm getting the "Product not found!" error message from my "Upcoming Products" list as well; though I in fact have entered information. Has anyone found a way (perhaps using the above code modification) to actually let people see the information for the "Upcoming Products"?.

Thanks in advance (I have searched and searched),.

My understanding is that if you set it as "out-of-stock" but set the available date and quantity, it will show up on the "Upcoming Product" section. However, if you click it, it will say "No product found"..

The reason (I guessed) is that since it is out-of-stock, oscommerce does not display the product information, so when user click the product and try to see the description, oscommer returns a null in database query..

To avoid this problem, you can set it as "In stock". But the dark side is now the customer will be able to "check out" (purchase) this item even though you don't have it in stock yet..

Sometimes your customer will be pissed if you can't ship it for several days or this item never came in..

A contribution is need in here, I think..
