What is Nutrisystem's cost of food for a week?

Want Deals On Nutrisystem Food Every Month?

Enter your email address below and we'll send you the latest coupon codes to save on Nutrisystem every month. We'll even give a lucky person a month supply of free food.

My question is What is Nutrisystem's cost of food for a week? Thanks for any comment. Second question of mine... Anyone care to join me in making a a goal weight for 12/1? I'm going for 185lbs. My 11/1 weigh in was 198.7, so I'm going for 13.7lbs or more for November. It's going to be tough with the Thanksgiving holiday, but I believe I'm up for the challenge.....

Comments (86)

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably could answer your Nutrisystem question..

We have a challenge going for the day before Thanksgiving, if you want to join in on that one..

Tim..

I think something going the whole month is smarter. Instead of inviting a diet then binge...

I'm really only interested in competing with myself, setting personal goals and then trying to meet or exceed them. I'm sure the more competition minded would find the challenge motivating, but for me it's more a personal thing. Good luck with your Thanksgiving challenge, and thanks for the invite!..

I would like to be 225 by Dec 1 - 28 days to lose 10 lbs sounds like a perfect goal - 2.5 lbs/week - and i'll make my 230 goal in two weeks to make poly wear the hasselhoff.....

Plus I may be in florida the beginning of december for vacation...was going to go down this wednesday but my kids have h1n1 - can't infect the grandparents or a whole plane full of innocent bystanders...

I am getting the Nutrisystem Turkey Tetrazzini for Thanksgiving. I can't let Thanksgiving get me off track. It took almost a week to recover from the last turkey/stuffing dinner my wife made...

We plan to bake a small turkey breast, and have very small portions of most Thanksgiving dinner items. My wife has been doing Nutrisystem with me and we haven't cheated or gone off program for the past 7 weeks, I think we deserve a minor cheat for the holiday. Plus we don't want to rob our 9 yo son of his regular TG dinner...

Great idea! I was 194.6 this morning. I'd like to be 188 by Dec 1. We are going to Disney World next week so I need extra motivation to stay on track!..

I'm with Radsdad re: setting personal goals..

OK. Here's my personal goals for November:.

1. Run a sub-30 minute 5K this coming weekend 11/07. I intend some deviations for carb loading to see if that helps this time and some additional deviations w/grandkids after it. I seriously ran out of gas on my last attempt. I don't know if it's in the cards for me or not, but going to try. I HATE endurance running, so I'd like to get this one and DROP it like a bad memory.

I'd like to look at something new for my next fitness challenge that does NOT involve long distance running. More explosiveness and agility. We'll see. TBD. Everyone tells me running gets under your skin and you will come to love it.

2. Stay mostly on-plan up to Thanksgiving and get down to 184. That would give me entry into the 100 lb. loser club and a 100 lb bear (a highly coveted prize for a very special bunch of LOSERS!) and WAY below where I thought I should maintain. See how it fits and perhaps re-evaluate my long-term goals..

3. Enjoy the holiday feasting and finish the month.

Under.

195. I know this is not good form, and I'm not advocating it, so bite me if you don't like it..

So, long story short, 12/01 goal wt: 195..

Gordon..

Gordon, makes sense to me. I'm planning on getting down to 185 by the 25th, and then I'm going to allow myself a 1000 or so extra calories on the 26th, and then finish the month at 185 or less. (hopefully)..

Rad and gordo, I suggest the first thing you do turkeyday morning is exercise for a good amount of time. get the bird in the oven then go do something. if you do a few hours of exercise, you can binge - it should be a wash...i did that last sunday and it worked for me...and after exercising, you may change your mind about being gluttonous...go Nutrisystem until dinner as well.....

You just described my exact plan..

Plus I plan to follow the meal with a 3 mile walk or hike...

Caution, thread jack..

Gordo,.

I like your goals and your approach. I'm struggling with what fitness goals to set for myself right now. It's interesting how as you achieve things you didn't think you could do it takes a lot of courage to set some really challenging goals. Maybe some self-sabotage/fear of success creeping in?.

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:.

"Commitment is not about the time you spend; it's about the line you cross with yourself."..

Good observation, Huge. Entirely possible. Speaking of challenges, there's a possibilty of a CrossFit gym opening in my area..... now THAT would be challenging! LOL..

Gordon..

Oh yeah, crossfit looks like a killer. There are a couple of CF gyms in B'more but they're all so expensive. The membership is not bad, but you have to sign up for a certain amount of personal training to get going. Still, I'm dying to try it, or I may join a boxing gym...

I boxed a little in college. Very crappy at it..

Have a lot of respect for you guys thinking of those activities. Maybe I will work my way into some ability to do those type of plio exercises eventually. Maybe even do some re-surgeries. I know that dropping the weight has helped me in some sense...so it's all good...but there are some bigger challenges that I need to continue to go after. Just need to be methodical about investigating theses things too. In some ways, the weight loss has been the easiest thing!.

Can you explain the meaning of the line comment in the quote? Btw, 212!?..

+1 I would have made that challenge end the Monday after Thanksgiving..

Gordon. The key to long term successful exercise is find something you enjoy. Boxing is a great idea if that is something you'll enjoy..

My goal is to lose 10lbs by 12/1...

Why don't you try a form of Karate? I am going to start Tang Soo Do in the spring after I drop another 50 lbs. That way I can take it with my 9 yr. oldhe is already been doing it for about a year. It is a great form of exercise and you don't get beat up as much doing it..

Tim..

Sure, my interpretation of it is that we all establish boundaries for ourselves, and limits beyond which we won't push ourselves. To me it paints a picture that if you are truly committed to something you will re-draw those lines to satisfy your goals. In fact, to grow that's absolutely what you have to do. It's not just putting in the hours of practice at something, it's allowing yourself to do whatever's necessary the next level..

About the 212: I know right? No one was more shocked than me. I continue to lose even with all the calories I've added in to support the more serious lifting I have layered into my regime...

I've thought about it, the whole eastern mysticism aspect is intriguing. Is it a good workout though? I'm not sure that my crazy schedule can accomodate structured classes, which I know are a really big part of it...

You are probably simultaneously hardening up (some muscle mass gain) while losing fat mass. Kudos!..

[quote=robert_c;3986679.

Gordon. The key to long term successful exercise is find something you enjoy. Boxing is a great idea if that is something you'll enjoy..

[/quote].

Hmmm.... Never did that. Interesting idea! I may look into it. I think my next push will be to try to get my speed up on my old races (where I was good at 35 years ago LOL). 440 and 880. I can dig really busting a gut for a minute or 2.

I'll probably go back to some more serious lifting too after I get to my next goal weight. I find trying to run for 1/2 hour at a stretch agonizing. My hat is off to Bill, big time! Runs 6 miles for FUN?!? Not my cup of tea, but I'm sticking to it until I can finish without being embarrased. I can't imagine the 10K, half marathon, etc.....

The good news is that the future is BRIGHT again!! For the prior 5-6 years, I was over 300 lbs, figured life was pretty much over, and was sinking into an obese oblivion with no real desire to do anything physical, or even travel ( a passion I've always had). It's a new day with unlimited options. I plan to try a bunch of them and I've got the rest of my life to do it. Thanks, NS!!.

Gordon..

Gordo, imagine running that 440 or 880 about 90 lbs ago....

Great job!.

Those 880's need pacing too, be careful.....

The school my son goes to is run by a 4th degree Master who is a Christian (deciding factor for our family) and teaches the art without the eastern influence. He still teaches the major things, like concentration, respect, responsibiltity and discipline. Tang Soo Do is very similar to Tai Kwon Do but more disciplined in it's movements. They start each class with sit-ups, push ups, jumping jacks and lot's of stretching and some yoga movements, then they start into the actual karate instruction. Normally a class goes for 45-60 minutes. My son is required to attend at least two classes each week and 2 sparring classes each month.

It must be a good workout since everybody is sweating when they are done..

Tim..

You know what, I'm in too: 180 by 12/1..

I've been at this for awhile, but never hit original goal. Something always came up; it seemed like whenever I got close (184, 185) I'd just slip up, figuring "Damn I look good, close enough!".

I think 180 by 12/1 & under goal by New Year's is something I'm gonna shoot for!..

My 12/1 goal will be 223.5..

Which is 10 pounds from today. I like to make my goals attainable...

I'm still pushing my way downward. I'm going(fingers crossed) to hit 195 tomorrow morning. I've got a soccer game I'm coaching in the morning, then my son and I are planning a 6-7 mile bike ride. Sunday we're going to do a 4 mile hike in the mountains up at Cuyamaca State Park. All this exercise is in addition to the morning and evening 2 mile walks and the 30-60min per day on the elliptical. I'm really hoping to see 194 by Monday, and to never again see 200, even dressed and full, starting next week..

Good luck guys!.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm still stuck at 195lbs, that makes three days in a row. I had a similar deal last weekend, when I was stuck at 199 for 3 days in a row. It's starting to look like my 185lb goal may be a stretch, but I won't go down without a fight!!..

Hey Bill,.

Don't give up now. Three days is not much of a plateau. I suspect this is just your body adjusting to the new you, moving things around, etc. Now's the time to really examine your plan, make sure you're really 100%, and stick with it. What usually happens is that all of a sudden you'll break though with a big loss...

I'm sure you're right, and don't worry about me giving up, no freaking way!!!! I think that my average of losing 5 lbs per week was just to good to be maintainable, not to mention that when I started I never even dreamed I'd lose that sort of weight so quickly. I'm a solid 10-12lbs ahead of where I thought I'd be now when I started. So all is good and I'm as committed to Nutrisystem as ever!!..

U r a losing animal radsdad. 3 days with same weighin is no biggie. You can get that just from hydration differences. (on both ends, early high, late low). Mix in bowel effects also..

That said, I think if your diet and exercise are unchanged, you will notice a slowdown for 200 as opposed to 230. You've just put down a 30 pound rucksack, so you're doing less work lugging it around. Also, that 30 pound rucksack consumed some calories for just keeping itself alive...

I continue to be stuck at 195lbs. I was actually up to 196 yesterday, and now back to 195.7 today. After hitting 195 last Saturday, I've run into a wall. I have continued 100% on the program and have been doing things, food and exercise, exactly the same as I've been doing for the past 10 weeks. I'm thinking it could be that I've reached a weight that I haven't been for nearly 10 years, so I'm fighting through a 10 year old layer of lard... Don't worry, I'm giving no thought to giving up or anything like that, in fact quite the opposite.

Maybe I'll break through to 194 tomorrow!..

A. You're going to break through. I was stuck for last few days, and then dropped 2. Things are funny that way with all the variation from water and poop..

B. I found once I had lost about 40 pounds that I noticed my weight loss slowing. Similar range to you by the way. It's not like the body really fights certain setpoints (you don't really think that is scientific!).

The simpler explanation is what RobertC showed in a post. You have reduced the WORK that you do lugging your body around in daily activities and in exercise. Imagine ADDING a 40 pound fat suit and wearing it around all the time! You would burn more calories from the work! Well, you set that rock-filled rucksack down! Thank God, too! There is also a component of calorie burn even at rest that goes down because you lost the 40 pounds (you don't have blood flowing through that tissue becuase the tissue is gone.).

Add it all up and it is just the common sense thing that at a lower weight, less calories are needed to maintain same weight. Therefore, your deficit goes down. Therefore, your loss rate goes down. This is why you see such huge rates of loss for the fattest people. Look how fast Bartle loses. He's a stud...but part of the reason is how big he is right now, just creates a huge deficit.

It's why Hugebear (and others) have a bit of a parabolic curve, concave up, to their weight loss. This doesn't mean that weight loss stops. Just some of the exhilirating speed drops off. However, it's more than made up for being being proud of your smaller belly!.

If you want the amazing Radsdad speed to continue, you can't expect that if you "keep everything the same". Because YOU'RE NOT THE SAME! You have to increase your exercise if you want to stay at same speed (or reduce food, but I'm not advocating that.) But there's also nothing wrong with just letting nature take it's course and living with a 2-3#/week loss rate instead of a 4-5#/week rate. The good thing is as a man, you can ride this thing right to goal and I bet you stay at least 2#/week even at 170. Our deficits are just inherently higher than the women...

I'm on a (jelly) roll. I want the first two lbs in the next 3 days! then 5 lbs in 12 days - that will be close but if I get the exercise in, it won't be hard I don't think...and I am planning on exercising..

And, I am going to florida on Nov 30- which means Dec 1 might not be weigh- in-able - but if I am really close before then, i'll be happy..

How's everyone else? hope you all had successful weekends!..

I'm at 193.1 this morning, so I'm stoked. After being pretty much stalled for nearly 2 weeks, I've dropped 3lbs in the past 6 days. Unfortunately my 12/1 goal will still be a real stretch. But at least I'm back on a downward curve, plus with this morning's weigh-in I have finally dropped my BMI below 27. I'm now at 26.99!.

What's this "really close" shiznet, paleface? Get it done ahead of time, says Tonto. (Just playing the hard ass with you, bob.)..

I know, i'm just being realistic - to lose that much weight in that little time seems almost physically impossible without losing muscle and/or really starving and not following the plan...weight that would simply bounce back easily if I did it incorrectly. I am recovering from the swine flu stall I had 2 weeks ago...if I had that week back it may have been easier. so some adjusting is in order here - don't get me wrong, i'll try!..

Don't cut more food than the diet allows. Too much danger of getting hungry, then binging, which ruins everything. Little extra exercise can help, but still...take 100% as the real goal and the scale will do what it does...

Mid month check-in. I am at 203 as of this morning...

I'm late to the party, but I'm in. I'm at 225 today, 2 weeks to go, I'll go conservative and say 218...

I've dropped another .5lb, so I seem to be back on track. Once I break through the 190 barrier I'll be lighter than I have been in at least 15 years..

Rick, that's a pretty impressive weight loss graph, you should be proud! I'm pulling for you to break through to One-derlander this month!!..

I have been down with a back injury for the last two weeks. The best I can say is that I have been steady. Finally back up on my feet to get this going again. Even with Thanksgiving and no weight loss, I am determined to make my committment to everyone here! I have spotted everyone 17 days and I am still going to do it, how about you!!!!!!..

Thanks Rad! The plan is really simple if you follow it. My weight loss has slowed the last 5 weeks due to too many business meetings with too many bad choices on.

I had a minor hiccup this weekend since my buddy is in town from Tennessee. Back 100% starting yesterday..

I'm still on track for my 220 goal though...

Back down to 187..

It's gonna be tough, but I'm gonna make a run. No Thanksgiving gluttony for me!..

230 - so I need 5 lbs in 10 days to make goal...i wish I had that h1n1 week back, but i'm not giving up! I think it is possible - I'm still heavy enough where 5 lbs is not a large % of my weight...minor NSV- my kid's bus driver - who I see only on occasion - did not recognize me yesterday...so she dropped my kids off to a stranger. nice... :-)..

Sounds like everyone's doing pretty well with their goals. I'm down to 191.0 this morning, so I'm pretty happy. My goal of 185 is going to be quite a reach, but I'm not giving up yet. However, being under 190 for the first time in over 15 years will be a pretty good thing. I'll hopefully be there on Sunday, then it'll be on to 180!..

Only 2# to go for me. Should not be a problem. Would like t get to 160 (7#), but that is too much of a stretch. Be early-mid December for final goal...

I hear ya rad - the 220's seemed so far away just 2 months ago...i'll feel good being there..

It's encouraging to know I can keep this up another 2-3 months and I will be below 200 - holy cow - 20 years since I was there..

I may have to scan my before (wedding pic) after (fat pic) before (now pic) to see if I look any similar to when I was 24. I think that would be a cool transition thing..

I think the biggest thing you can tell a newbie is - stick with it 100% for a month or two - it will fly by and you will be happy with the results!..

Not sure how I got on this 12/1 goal list. Probably stuck my big mouth out somewhere about desiring a 100 lb bear. I do NOT have a 184 goal for 12/1, so I should not be listed here as such. I'll be happy anywhere under 200 on 12/1. Maybe next spring, maybe never, but 184 is not a real "goal" at this time. Especailly not as part of a challenge.

Thanks,.

I'm totally cornfused now (not hard to do). I guess the morphing of this thread from a "goal stating" to a challenge threw me off and the 184 reported in the listing above was way wrong. I knew I wistfully mentioned that weight somewhere to get my 100 lb stripes, but never committed to it..

Those numbers still seem hinky, but is what they is. I gotta watch where I hang my hat around here! Setting a goal weight 4 lbs OVER my start weight is not a real good example in a weight loss forum..

Gordon..

I don't see it as a competitive challenge, but just a rackup of all our goals..

And I guess your goal, was not to blow up too much!..

Gordo - yea at this point you know the drill....

Poly - you know where I stand - thanks for the push - i'll get there.

I WILL get there..

I am not giving up but I am having serious doubts that I am going to reach my goal of 196 by next Monday. I came in at 202 this morning. Just to keep Poly happy (and me) I am going to do my damnest to get to 199 by next Monday...

I can't wait to see bill and rick's goal photos!.

Keep going guys, good job..

We need a b4/after ONLY thread and a seperate thread for the comments...just another bob idea. we do that for the biggest loser 5. one thread to weigh in only and another thread for comments.....

That's a great idea for the photos..

I think the separate threads for weighin and conversation kills a lot of the chit chat which would happen if people did not have to go back and forth. For a challenge, which is happening right then, this is too bad (although the converse makes more work for Erin)..

For the photos, this is less of an issue. Really don't need the comments and the camaraderie. Just the repository is enough. Comments in that thread are pretty noise to signal...photos are pretty signal to noise...

229 - 4 lbs to go for Dec 1. it's going to be close...i think turkeyday is going to be waking up and running a few miles. It should keep me from over-indulging. but I will have something...

Just follow the flex guidelines, Bob. Have the same nutrients that you would on NS, but with non-NS food. It is not such a hardship...I did a poll and lots of people are doing that. Also, good for you to learn how to do that. 225, babybee.......

I have a good idea how to eat correctly - the things I like really are not too bad for u. and I never eat dessert. it should be a wash that day tho, not a loss...i'll continue trying tho!..

I plan to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving dinner with my family who I don't see enough of. If that means I gain a pound or two...so be it...

I am with you moepoker2. I am going to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family. While my dad eats the drumstick, I am going to have breast (turkey that is). When everyone else eats the sugared up yams, I having a baked yam. While everyone esle is have having dressing, I am having corn. Grilled or steamed aspargus versus greenbean cassorle.

Since we are eating at lunch time I will have my Nutrisystem lunch for dinner that night. BTW I am starting the day with some weight training and on the treadmill for an hour...

Yea, rick that's the way I am working it pretty much as well..

I found out my sis-in law is cooking. that's good. I don't like her stuffing..

I'm going in ON TRACK! Unless I turn T-day into a 4 day debauch, 12/1 will be looking good!.

Godon..

I'm .7 pounds from my goal as of this morning. Back 100% after a nice Thanksgiving meal made by my lovely mother and I should easily make 220 by 12/1...

Hell yea! 185 this morning. Just more motivation to take it easy at the table today..

187/185/180..

You GO, Bungle! Only 5 to GOAL!! Yeah..

I had an amazing weigh-in today (official weight day for me) of 184!! That's 9 lbs in one week after 6 lbs the week before..

I ruled out scale error. The only explanation I can come up with was NO gym and beating off a nasty MRSA infection last week..

I'm now in the Nutrisystem century club and can claim a 100 lb. bear! WaHooo!! This was a personal goal that I had set for sometime next year AFTER the holidays. Snuck up on me..

Of course, I had a bit of a bounce by COMPLETELY enjoying Thanksgiving dinner today. I cooked it and had 3/4 lb of butter and a cup of cream in the mashed, 1/4 lb, cream and brown sugar in the butternut squash, a well-brined turkey, and real sour cream and mushroom soup in the green beans, so it was NOT Nutrisystem compliant, but was a wonderful dining experience and worth every extra calorie. To me..

I intend to stay on-pan now to solidify this new low. If it stays "real", I may rethink my drop-dead upper limit, but I'd need to get near 180 to feel good about lowering goal to 190. I also know I'm dropping muscle mass now, which is OK at this point. Not sure how low to go, or what will happen when I start lifting again. We'll see..

12/1 should be VERY good to me (if I follow my stated intention)!!.

How'd T-day go for you guys?.

Gordon..

Congrats Gordon! Wish I had similar news, but I don't. We're just back from a 6 day Motorhome trip to the Tucson area for the holiday. I did pretty well, but was tempted far too many times. I thought I handled things pretty well, especially considering my past history of eating anything and everything. This morning's weigh-in saw me at 192, so I gained just over a pound during the trip.

So my 12/1 goal went out the window this week. I'm going to work hard to at least get to 190 by 12/1, and hopefully 189... We'll see. Hope everyone had a great holiday!..

Congrats Gordon!.

I do want you to make sure and monitor that MRSA though. I lost a guy earlier this year that I had worked with for over 13 years. That can be some really nasty stuff...

I'm at 165, Mom's scale. Should be ok for the month end. Wanted to get to 160 by the 29th as a stretch...but that just never made math sense..

Keep 'er headed downhill, Radsdad!..
