That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I find an decent answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could assist you..
Use photoshop to make the pictures smaller. 2kb is possible..
Just open the pic and file>save for web>jpeg medium...
Can you explain 'thumb the pictures'. I am guessing it is a contribution..
Thank you everyone who has taken the time to check and reply...
I think he mean, that you have to make your pics smaller (the kb size)..
I'm in the U.S. running on Cable. Your iPage site didn't seem that slow to me..
Also, don't know if you've already made them smaller? But, your pictures come up quick enough for me..
What the poster meant by "thumbing" is making a Thumbnail picture of your products. However, the pictures I saw, even when clicking on the enlarged picture seemed just fine..
Also, of note - I'm running the Netscape browser..
Thanks again everyone..
I have been making the files smaller throughout the day, they range from 2KB up to 30KB. Are these OK you think?.
What I meant by slow is that when I open it on my machine the page seems to roll down the screen. Maybe my system is not powerful enough? We are on DSL and have 2 computers networked into it..
On a more general note what could the iPage site do with to make it better, do you think the main 'logo' (red rectangle) at the top could do with being made a bit bigger?.
Again all feedback it very much appreciated...
Personally, I don't think optimizing your pictures will make that much of a difference..
I might take a closer look at your host. What kind of machine you're on, server load and connection..
Although not perfect, a quick check on DNSstuff, gives you a failing.
Optimizing the pictures will definately help modem users. There are still lots and lots of those out there..
Any picture on your main page should not exceed 5K whenever possible..
There are some contributions out there that will resize the pictures on the fly just as long as your web hoster is setup properly...
Your sight is sound but the black background does your sight no justice, you are going to lose lots of customers it's a bit off putting.
Sorry mate just my view..
Recently we have found our iPage site has slowed down....please take a look at.
Im on cable as well, although in the US..
The iPage site did feel a bit slow for me..
You need to thumb the pictures...
