I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I got an good answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you help..
I found in the admin where you can enable downloads but when using the cart I get this error message across the top of my screen:.
Warning: The downloadable products directory does not exist: /home/venture/public_html/testcart/download/. Downloadable products will not work until this directory is valid..
I know there is a folder called download but this is saying it is not valid..
What could I be doing wrong?..
You need to have the permissions set properly on the downloads folder. They must be set to '755'..
You also need to enable downloads in the admin section..
Is that the correct location of the folder and are the proper permissions set on the folder?.
Offering WAV format will really bog you down if you are using shared iPage hosting because of the size of the files. Offering MP3s is better on that end of it but the quality as I'm sure you know is degraded considerably. I won't even get into the potential legal aspects of it all a that's your client's problem...
Yes, the permissions are correct and I do have the downloads enabled in the admin section - still getting the same error message..
Anything else I can check???..
Permissions are correct and I FTP'd in and that's where the folder is..
Don't know why it states it as none existent - it's there...
If you use the default download engine you will not be able to accept checks and money orders. Also you'll need real-time credit card processing The download links becames available after the order is confirmed. If payment is declined the order will not be confirmed..
(I hope someone will prove me wrong.
This makes a lot of sense, especially the realtime credit card processing. I will pass this along to my client..
Also, I deleted and installed a new cart called "music" and enabled the download option and the perissions are correct and I am still getting an error message across the top of my screen, but a little different than the other..
Warning: The downloadable products directory does not exist: /home/demo3/public_html/.
/. Downloadable products will not work until this directory is valid..
It's not separating the cart.
Take a look at your configure.php file. It defines the name and path of your download directory...
I don't see why that would be. Of course you won't get the download link at checkout, but it would still be in their account profile I would think...
It doesnt work with cash on delivery. You get the 'ready to download' bit but no link...
Here is the section in the config.php located at music/includes/config.php..
The download folder is located at music/download..
Still getting this message:.
Warning: The downloadable products directory does not exist: /home/demo3/public_html/musicdownload/. Downloadable products will not work until this directory is valid..

Hey, I got the error message to disappear by adding a slash as seen below in red:.
Now all I have to do is see if the rest works..
Be back with the results...
Went through a complete purchase with no problems or errors now that I put the slash in..
Only thing is, nothing showed up to allow me to download..
Is there a certain way to put the products in or files to download or is there something else I need to do to allow the download link to show???..
Found literature at.
Which helped me get the rest of the cart to work up to finalizing the download. It shows a link now to "Download your products here:"..
Only thing is when I go to download I get ".
Page cannot be found.
Got it all to work. Thanks to all for your help..
Anyone having this problem, look over this thread including the URL to the downloads description..
Final change was in the config.php as I have here:.
I believe the main problem was just adding the two slashes I have in red..
Above it looks like your files are in /musicdownload/. Your configure.php is looking for files in /download/. Either rename musicdownload to download or cause configure.php to look in /musicdownload...
I have a client that wants to sell music thats downloadable after payment is made. Here is her question:.
I am starting an internet business in which I will be selling music cd's from my site, I want to make them in wave or mp3 format so customers can download them from the site, after they have paid for them. Can I use your services or do I need to have a special host that hosts music sites? I will probably have about 20 cd's on the iPage site and customers can download the music or cd of their choice..
Can OSCommerce be used to allow payment then allow payer to download music?.
Is there a hack for this?.
Thats what I use it for, it takes a little tweeking but it all works out fine in the end. Its actually very good with downloads. You can see a demo of my iPage site at.
Although bear in mind it's not ready yet. Im finishing off all the little bits and bobs at the moment..
