What is your opinion of the Medifast Diet?

First off, What is your opinion of the Medifast Diet? Hoping for any answer. My 2nd question... Other topics will be discussed that may not be appropriate for the easily offended..

Please discontinue reading Tough Love threads if they are going to cause you to become upset..

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++.

Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe:.

1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to:.

1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstenance from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

8. Be honest with ourselves and our Medifast family and to stay 100% OP at all times. We also swear that WHEN (not if) we are having a tough time and feel like we may eat SLUDGE, to come to our Medifast family first and ask for support and help to get us through the struggle..

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an anything. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you help..

Karen, we had the same "snow" storm, the schools here are on a 2 hr delay but my youngest has a 745 doc appt, just rain so far. and it's warm so even if it does snow the ground is warm..

Morning Cindy.

After the doc appt, it's time to drive the boys to school, then come home and pick up a bit. My Mom is having friends over tomorrow and the boys and I are having friends over on Saturday lunch..

Have a great one everybody..

Morning...still having my first cuppa...I'm reposting from last night - I'm a first thing in the morning, and after dinner poster/reader....so tough to peek in during the werk day and once I get home (LATE) it's cook, catch up with the hubs, read/post, then bed..

Connor.

You did such a FABULOUS job yesterday...coming here to whine, pun intended, staying OP, helping your son....here' my post from last night...I was also inspired by the sparkly talk...I love sparkles and would have a sparkly sig, but then I'd be banned.....

Morning all. Coffee in hand. It's going to be a good day because I'm going to make it one...

Good morning and happy Thursday! Please tell me it's not still Wednesday....

I'm feeling pretty yucky, but I have a feeling it would be worse if I hadn't started the Zicam when I did. Lots of fluids and more Zicam today. And DayQuil. More of that giant Q..

Jan, thanks for sparing us the sparkes... but flashing comes in as a close second! :-)..

Hope you're feeling better...keep pumpin' yourself full of fluids & Q...oh, and GET SOME REST!.

I wanted to do an entire sparkle post after reading some of the anti-sparkle posts yesterday, but alas, someone else beat me to it and again, I don't want the sparkle police guarding the door to turn me away.....

So here's my NSV for the day. I was talking to my old boss Laurie on the phone, just catching up, when one of my ex-co workers came into her office. She put me on speaker and we were just chatting away about how the new year was going, and he asked me how the running was. I told him I was training for a marathon, and he started sputtering - Joe goes about 450 pounds or so, and is one of the people who kept telling me I was gonna die while I was losing weight and starting to run and all that. He sputtered for a while and finally said "No Way! That's 26 MILES!" Laurie said "Joe, you're nuts! No way I'd bet against =HER=!".

I just love it when other people recognize I can do anything!..

Good Morning Tlers!.

Steph, YOU have a great reputation! I am smiling and clapping for you..

Still in bed, even after a full pill, but we'll see how the day plays out..

Weight: 153.8 which should provide a shot of adrenaline in itself..

Temp here in West Lafayette IN: -9 degrees. I am so satisfied to sit and look out my window..

Thanks for sharing your lives and successes today (Rants and vents welcomed as well)..

Enjoy you day OP..

Beth..

Morning, Beth! It's -6 here, but is supposed to start warming up over the weekend, I hear. Yay!.

You know, you're a real inspiration to me. Every morning, when I'm dragging myself out of bed and making myself go run, I remind myself of how fortunate I am. I'm LUCKY to be able. I don't HAVE to run, I GET to run. It's a privilege. You have to work so hard for those moments, and it's so relatively easy for me.

Thanks for being here...

Good morning and happy Thursday..

Conner - I agree with everyone else: Great job on resisting the temptation yesterday. You did the right thing. I can't tell you how many times I've had a crappy day and thought "just one glass of wine, just one". I haven't done it. And I feel fine about it afterwards. I hope you have a much better day today..

Penny - I hope you start to feel better today. We will hide all sparkles from you..

Cindy - Glad you didn't wet the bed. That made me lugh..

Beth - I agree with Jan, you are an inspiration. thank you for coming here and lifting our spirits..

Steph - It is so fun to show people what you're made of. I bet your ex coworker was speechless..

Our hot weater heater went out sometime during the night. Brrr... no hot shower for me. Fortunately I took a shower last night before bed, so I feel nice and clean. I told my husband, I'll do a high school 5th period gym class, I'm on my period and can't take a shower wash up. Remember that? You used a wash cloth and washed up instead of showering? Yah, he didn't really get it either..

Have a great OP day. I like what MT said, It'll be a great day because I'll make it one...

Just popping back on to log food and of course I can't resist coming in and catching up..

Steph - that IS an awesome NSV. There's no stopping you, and everybody knows it!.

Beth - you insprire me too. Thanks for sharing your life with us!.

I also wanted to report two things. Day before yesterday I thought I was taking chicken noodle soup to work for lunch (grabbed the packet in the dark). So of course I put some chicken broth in the bowl and poured the packet in to soak. Opened it up at lunchtime and BAM - it was chili. This is one of those "you know you're on Medifast when" moments. Because I heated that sucker up and ate it, grimmacing the whole time.

It is fuel, not food..

AND, that same night, because we knew we'd be snowed in for at least a day yesterday, and we had some teen/young adult guys in the house hanging out with the boys for about 24 hours, my DH brought home MAJOR SLUDGE. Some of these items we don't see around here except at holiday time! I was not even tempted. Another terrific day 100%..

Feeling grand, and planning to keep it that way..

Hi Everyone I missed!!.

Tracey..

Morning. I think. Yep, I can barely see pale light if I stick my head around the wall of my cube and look out the conference room window. hehe.

Totally overslept this morning and didn't get my Zumba in. Hate when that happens. Now I'll have to get up early tomorrow..

Waving to everyone..

Penny - I hope you are taking the gel caps and not the liquid DayQuil!!..

No syrupy liquid DayQuil or NyQuil for me, De! Not to worry! I even bought sugar free cough drops!..

Morning TL's.

I need a nap, coffee and a shower! Time to sell the tickets..

I hope everyone has a great day!..

Oh I forgot I had A meeting. now I'm on a conference call...

Mia - cool - do you have to pay attention to the call?..

Hi all. Another day at home with my daughter. She asked for cereal this morning though, which is good that she feels like eating something and good that her voice was above a froggy whisper. So I'm hoping the crushed up pills mixed with applesauce are doing their thing in her little body. She would be so sad to miss her kindergarten Valentine's party tomorrow..

Send positive thoughts/vibes this way today as my wonderful mother-in-law undergoes reconstructive surgery for her face. She had skin cancer removed and it was more than they bargained for so now she needs rebuilding, esp. on her nose. I'm a nervous wreck!.

This woman is golden...she is one of those grandmas who LOVES to play and interact with her grandchildren. She plans fun things to do with them...like sledding, or building forts, or baking, or art projects. She buys telescopes and microscopes and collects weird things for the kids to inspect under them. She takes them when they are sick (this week the major exception!!!) so we don't have to miss work, she takes them on weekends or when we need a getaway. She's insanely wonderful..

So anyway. Here's hoping all goes well today. I don't need wine. I just need faith!..

I bought myself a My-K-Cup contraption and I love it. Our office has a Keurig coffee maker. I love the freshly brewed coffee, but there's a lot to throw away for each individual cup. So, to do my part for the environment, I bought a My-K-Cup t his morning. I load it with my own coffee (bringing in Komodo Dragon tomorrow) and then just rinse it out good after I use it...

Prayers and positive thoughts for your MIL Conner. She sounds like a wonderful woman...

Cheri - I remember those gym-class-wash-ups on my period. Except we had to actually go into the showers, wearing our shorts and bra, and do the wash-up. Ack!! Of course, when I did that it was back in the stone ages when many moms wouldn't let their girls use tampons....

Steph and Beth - I'm reminded of something that we used to talk about when I worked for the big transformational/personal growth training company: Have to vs. Get to. It makes me smile, remembering my teams telling me about everything they "get to" do. Yes, I know how very fortunate I am that I get to move freely and exercise!!.

Today is a day off work for me, so I'm hitting the ground running, car wash, 2 supermarkets, gas, UPS, Target...then back here for take-2 on the taxes..

I'm so happy that this team is here! I'm a frequent reader on my phone during the day, even if I don't have time to post. I'm soaking in the inspiration! Still sticking with my no-weigh week! I can't wait for Sunday morning!.

For those with icky colds and flu, I was taught a healing bath remedy which I outlined in the Slim Gems' thread if anyone wants to go take a look. Basically, it's taking about an hour to give yourself a really good sweat, and it requires a bathtub. Not for folks with high bp or heart problems..

Take care, beautiful TLers!!..

Connor, glad your little one is feeling a little better. That amoxicillin is a godsend. Your DMIL is in my thoughts. Treasure her. I don't have to tell you how lucky you and your husband are to have her. She sounds like someone even I'd like to spend a day with!..

Connor prayers out to your MIL.

All of you and your kids who are under the weather I hope you get better soon...

Lynne, you reminded me that my YMCA has a steam room. I've never used it. I may think about that...

Morning everybody! I threw in the exclamation point in a probably vain attempt to get a little enthusiasm going for this day. Ever wake up just feeling dull? I am dull today with no signs of it getting any better..

Good thoughts for your MIL, Connor. I love hearing stories of great MIL's. Mine was awful and I had to keep telling myself that I could outlive her. Which I did...

Penny- the meeting was with the school regarding an IEP for DS2. both my boys have learning issues. Yeah fun! I do have to listen but I was playing on the computer. heheehe. I've heard it all before and I just have to agree with it. If there was a problem with the IEP I would have called before the meeting to have things changed.

Ds2 is getting a new Ipad to do his school work with..

Make a cup of coffee for me! black with 2 equal.

Now it's time for work...

Fingers crossed for your MIL, Connor..

Lots of.

Today..

Penny, I have a stainless steel french press. I don't leave home without it...

Oooh. I like that idea Penny! We have Keurig here at work too and it really does produce a TON of waste..

Connor - Beaming mojo to your MIL. You are definitely lucky to have such a caring one..

MT - I have a french press too, but I always forget to bring it in. My day is looking to be a lot like yours..

Wish I had access to a steam room. Our bath tub is in my teenage son's bath room and wild horses can't drag me in THERE!..

Great idea!.

Also, connor, adding my best wishes for your MIL!!..

I have a mini glass French Press here in my drawer. I was looking at a stainless one the other day. I don't drink all that much coffee, but sometimes I love a nice hot cup of strong joe. The only drawback on the KCup is that, although my machine will make up to 12 oz. at a time, the KCup only holds enough coffee to make about 8 oz. at the strength I like.

Or larger. There are some serious coffee drinkers here...

I have two french presses. One at home and one at work. I love it!.

My boss has a steam room in his home. He swears by it. As soon as he shows any signs of getting sick, he hops in there for an hour or so. Seems to work for him...

Prayed for your family, Connor. A five year old pink-pink-pink girl needs that Valentine's party..

Keep us posted on how MIL is doping..

My MIL who is 93 just had surgery for the same thing on her face. All is going well with her. She felt too conspicuous to leave her room, so her private aide had dinner delivered until she was healed sufficiently to feel confident..

When MIL was strong enough to resume her walks in the hall (with aide and walker) her contemporaries were not concerned with her feelings, just the wound itself. Funny!.

My DH will be with her next week for three days. He hasn't seen her in almost 2 months because of the weather and a few scheduling conflicts. I hope he's able to make the trip..

She was an extremely beautiful woman who has survived three husbands, each of whom loved her dearly. Just like her mother did..

When I first met our elder daughter's beloved, I thought to myself, well, here's #1. MY SIL is wonderful and I do not want him to be a family stastic..

Enjoy the rest of your day OP, strong TLers!.

Beth..

Hi all, I'm here, just not very talkative today for some reason..

Connor, saying prayers for your grandma. I hope all goes well..

I'm glad to hear about the Nyquil gel caps. I don't get sick very often, but when I do I drink Nyquil religously. It hadn't even occured to me that I can't do that anymore. At least there is an alternative. Do the gel caps still help you to sleep?..

I haven't missed a day of work due to illness in about 20 years. What's sick really like? I've had sniffles and head colds but never ill enough to stay in bed all day...

Coonor-Lots of prayers for your MIL....How lucky you, DH and your children are...

Morning all!.

Connor, good vibes and thoughts being sent your way for your MIL..

Busy day, so just a type by.....

Hi all! Its Thursday, my FRIDAY, so today is a good day regardless of anything else!.

We were talking about weight loss today at work. Its kind of funny, I rescued a Weimaraner last January and he was quite overweight. He also had some orthopedic problems that the excess weight was not helping. I had no problem measuring his food and switching him to carrots and green beens for treats, yet waited a whole year to lose weight myself! Maybe if someone else was in charge of my meals it would be easier.....

PS-the dog with me in my profile pic isn't the Weim, it's my competition dock diving Chesapeake Bay Retriever Cocoa. She exercises A LOT and her weight is easily maintained, maybe I should follow her cue!.

Have a great OP day everyone!.

Tara..

Good morning, lovelies!!! I'm here with Morty, but I thought I'd drive by and say no, I am not handcuffed to the bed (although I'm not saying anything about the state of my ankles), and I'm OP!.

*kisses*..

Wouldn't it be fun to have Morty do your makeup, Freya?..

To a point. Then again I have sleep issues so I'm not a good judge. I DON'T sleep as well or as long as when I take the liquid, but that's me. The liquid is full of sugar and alcohol and just not worth being kicked out of ketosis for IMO. And the taste of the NyQuil? Rather take the gel caps ANY day!.

Penny - Maybe Morty would be kind enough to do YOUR makeup for the cruise. Just keeping it in the "family" you know. <snicker>..

Oooooh! I wish he wasn't all the way over in the PNW! I'd have him doll me up for Saturday Date Night when I break the news!.

I don't wanna look like I'm just sleeping, though.....

I'm OP too, me too me too! "Enjoying" my mid-week weekend with heavy doses of studying, and I have to go up to werk in a bit for a meeting anyway. Blargh..

At this moment I am basking in the wonder of pre-cooked shrimp. I bought a big bag of it on my epic Costco excursion last week, and set it in the fridge to thaw a couple of days ago. I spent some time that night trying to Google how to cook pre-cooked shrimp, without ruining it, until finally it dawned on me: It's already been cooked and I could eat it.

Cold.

It thaws out, I measure it, and just EAT it, and it's just like food! Whee! I may have a new regular lean for the rotation. As it is now, I'm getting four days' worth out of it! Never underestimate the laziness of a busy girl who doesn't like to cook if she doesn't have to..

DH and I set a date last night for our "re-wedding;" a lot about our wedding didn't go like I would have liked it, plus we had only the very closest of family members there, so we've been vaguely planning to have a vow renewal ceremony here that our friends can come to. Last night I got the okay from DH and our preacher to just go ahead and plan on that for September 3. Ooooh, I'm gonna look so good thenif I'm not at goal by that time, I will definitely be at a healthy weight. Setting the date was prompted by conversations last night about another friend's personal shower that's going on tomorrow nightapparently I have friends willing to throw me one a year late, since I never got the first one. It occurred to me that a personal shower when I am a skinny little biotch would be a lot more fun than one now, when I'm a blob and nothing will fit in a few months...

Thanks De!.

Hopefully I won't get sick for a long time and won't need the nyquil. There's no way I would take the liquid though. I knew it just had to be full of sugar with the sweet, sweet taste it has. I wish they made calorie free, sugar free drugs..

One of the only things that help me during the day when I have a cold is Sudaphed. I had never even tried it until I was pregnant and that was the only thing I could take. I love that stuff. I don't have any side effects and it clears me up great. Doesn't help me sleep though..

Oh, and I almost forgot:.

Given the choice between celebrating Valentine's Day (for both of us) or steakandbjday.com (for him, and V-day for me), DH actually seems to be leaning toward... Valentine's Day. I don't understand..

This means that not only do I have to figure out what I want so I can hint around at him so he can get it for me, I also have to figure out what to get him. Blargh. Boo. Hiss...

Morty says he's not an aesthetician, but he's happy to wire your jaw shut for you...

Ah, the restorative arts! When I was at esthetician school they actually explained this to us as a possible career option. Of course, I already knew all about it, since my grandmother was a cosmetologist/hairdresser at the local mortuary. My grandfather was a mortician. The first few years we lived with them I went to "the place" (as they called it) after school, then walked home from work with them...

ROFL. Don't think that would go over to well with her hubby...

I guess nothing counts til you've been slammed by a mortician, huh? And, De, you're right. If anybody's gonna wire my jaw shut, he'd want it to be HIM...

Once again, the 10-mile rule is in full effect. MINE...

Hmm, 10-mile rule? I'm unfamiliar with this. Is that the one that says we can be in love with/have a crush on your boyfriend, as long as we don't get within 10 miles of him?..

I joined the "Y" today, now I can do step class, zumba and spinning!!..

Just wanting to swing in and say hello. Been taking a break from the computer, and working on some things here in my real life. I am doing OK with Medifast this week except really struggling with fluids..

Hope all is well with everyone!..

My pearl of wisdom for the afternoon:.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, wash out your Medifast cup when you have to go pee. Here's my story:.

I have to go pee. We have two restrooms at work. They are both occupied. I decide to save time and multi-task. I will wash out my cup while waiting to use the restroom..

Having to go pee + warm water = REALLY having to go pee..

Consider yourself warned...

Ahhhh, home from work, relaxing, 3 day weekend!!! Not moving unless I absolutely have to for the next 3 days!!!..

Thanks so much for making me laugh today....I needed it. Long day. Got up at 4:30 to exercise so I could get it in and now I'm exhausted. Off to bed. A little less than 2 weeks and this show will be over and I'll be able to sleep again..

Enjoy your evening!..

Okay so Medifast definitely has messed up with my sleep cycle. Total of 6 1/2 hours of sleep in 72 hours...how...am...I...coherent? Thank god for OP leftovers and the simplicity of the 5 and 1 plan or I would NOT have had real food today!!!..

Thanks for the good vibes, thoughts and prayers. MIL is home, resting and fine. Whew. One less thing to worry about..

Hope everyone else had a good day!..
