Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I discover an decent answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you an answer..
I agree with Adam - splash pages are bad. Not only do they annoy users of your site, but they hurt your search engine rankings..
For a silly example splash page that unfortunately looks like too many sites I have seen..
On the other hand - I can see why some think you need a splash page. There is nothing on your home page to really tell the user what your iPage site is about. What you need is some useful text on the main page, and consider dropping the "What's New" box See my store (WWW link below) for how I approached this...
Steve and Adam thanks for the opinions and after checking out your iPage site Steve I agree that is what I need. I DIDNT do my iPage site and have no idea how to get text on that page. Could you talk me thru this. A really nice woman from the forum offered to set the whole thing up for me when I found myself over my head. I have added extra pages but not any +really hard stuff. I also noticed you didnt have a links pager, is there a reason and how do you get trraffic without them?..
You could do with changing the images on the front page - horizontal scrolling is a NO NO in web world...
There are good uses for Splash Pages. I use one that takes some Oscommerce Functions and outputs as pure xhtml. This means that Search Engine Spiders can better read my "Splash Page"....
However I would agree that most sites do not need them, particularly e-comm sites. You are simply adding in an extra couple of click for people to get to your products...
Thanks for more good advice, like I said I did not set up my iPage site so I have no idea how to change the scroll on the fronyt page. Also I have lnk pages and they seem very short9 dont hold many lines of links ) how do I change this???..
I'm not sure what you mean by "the scroll". By default, the text on the main page comes from the TEXT_MAIN define in includes/languages/english/index.php. It is not clear to me if you perhaps removed the code that calls that from your catalog/index.php..
I can't help with the "links pages". Don't believe in 'em on a store, myself..

I am sorry probably worded badly. My whats new is on the first page and is so wide you need to scroll sideways to see everything. How do I change that..
Steve your first page is beautiful, how would I go about changing or adding something like that to mine?..
I simply removed the "what's new" and other extraneous boxes from index.php and put in the definition for TEXT_MAIN the HTML I wanted to appear there...
I have had people checking out my iPage site and they say I need a splash page, I would like some opinions from people here who are more knowlegable please.
NO! Splash pages are bad, unless they are warented which in your case it's not. There is nothing worse than seeing the same pointless thing everytime you enter a site. Your iPage site looks nice and isnt really fussy and busy looking so I dont think you need one..
