I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I bump into an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could help you..
Get a copy of Easyphp it has all you need and is very easy to install..
This is a very worthwhile method for developing a iPage site with the added advantage of having everything local and to hand instead of being on a remote server out with your full control..
This method is well worth the effort as you can develop multiple shops and configurations which are ready available and easily backed up to cd in minutes..
I find this much better than constant upload and download of files to be worked on as you would have to do with a remote server...
I use dreamweaver, have my development sites locally, the testing servers locally and the live servers on the net. then all I have to du is push an up arrow when I am done testing and the files then go up to the live site.
Makes it a piece of cake..
Are you saying that EasyPHP allows you to work on an osc iPage site on your own computer which can then be uploaded to the host server? Does it need anything else? PHP/ Mysql?.
If so this is what I need, where is the best place to find a copy?.
Www.easyphp.org and yes it has php, phpMyAdmin, Mysql, Apache.
I also like Mibble use dreamweaver..
Interesting. I had not heard of easyphp before. Thanks for the info...
Have download easyphp. Thanks for help!.
Question, I use Frontpage03. Do you know if it will intergrate well with easyphp?.
I think dreamweaver as an editor will serve you better, or if it's just a good editor for PHP alone then Edit Pad Pro is also a great standalone/accompaniment choice ...
Do I need to install easyPHP even if I have Dreamweaver???.
Yes. Dreamweaver is an excellent iPage site development tool, and understands PHP, but it doesn't execute it...
Micrsoft is horrible for dealing with php, simply because it doesnt support it.<soft have their own sever side language (ASP) and so frontpage supports it..
Easyphp= a webserver including mysql and php inside a special installer it is for noobies who dont know how to set up the server. Its bad coz you cant chose file locations for seperate mechnisams (mysql php)..
Its great for testing. I do all my iPage site design locally!..
Say, is it possible to develope osc locally on my windows PC, then upload to server?.
What would be needed and how would one go about it. Or is the trouble of doing this just not worth while. Any suggestions would be helpfull..
It's possible, but it's not straightforward. You would have to install a web server and PHP. Optionally, MySQL. I know people who have done this, but it hardly seems woirth the effort to me. I just upload into a password protected work area while I play. When I'm ready, I move the files to where I want them...
