My question is Where can I find a good, reliable web iPage hosting service in Singapore ? Looking forward for any answer. My 2nd question... A strange thing happens in commerce that could put people off making a purchase..

Maybe you have this problem too, maybe you dont?!.

I have a list of about 300 products in about 10 categories,.

When you pick a categories and view the products, you see a button called buy now!.

Next to each product, then you click the buy now button to get a description of the product, So good so far. works fine..

But I noticed a strange problem in my last 3 categories, when you click the buy now button it adds the product to the cart..

Ok people mite say thats what it is supposed to do..

But which is it supposed to do add to cart or view the description..

I think people mite thing I'm trying to rip them off by adding stuff to their cart, if you know what I mean..

Clicking the picture and text work fine, they take you to the details of the product..

Its just the buy now button that cannot make up it's mind..

Has anyone seen this problem before, check you site?.

Maybe I have added "" '' // () or html code in the products description somewhere?.

Does any know what symbols you cannot use when adding products?.

Does Anyone have the answer, to this crazy bug?..

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can answer it..

So let me get this right, if I add an attribute to a product that will activate the description for that product, when people click buy now, it will go to the description rather than being added to cart?.

Got to test this out..

Thanks.

No, that's not right at all. I see what you are saying, but you are misunderstanding I think..

By adding an option, it means you can't just add the product to the cart, you must also choose an option. As you cannot see the options in the "categories" view, then it is impossible for the cart to know which option you are wanting to purcahse. It therefore re-directs you to the product page to choose your options and press "add to cart"..

Whereas a product without any options, can be added directly to the cart. Without passing Go, and without collecting 200..

Make sense now?..

It works, Thanks..

The products no longer go strait to the basket in the shop area, when I add the an attribute to that product..

Now I've got to sus out, what attribute to add to a product that doesn't need attributes..

LOL.

I'm very happy it works, Thanks again!.

Why not just turn the Buy Now Colum off and not have it Displayed at all??.

No need to add an attribute to the product that is a waste.

The "buy now" feature is there to allow people to by pass the product description pages or "BUY NOW" if you dont want to use that feature, simply turn it off in the admin area of the car.

Under.

Configuration > Product listing.

The "buy now" functionality changes depending upon whether your product has an attribute/option attached to it..

A URL would help further diagnosis...
