Question I have... Where can I find a iPage web host that supports one-touch Wordpress and Silverlight? Thanks in advance for any response. Second question.. Greetings all. I have a question which I'm not even sure is possible, but I'm hoping it is. I generally use tables to design the layouts of my websites.

I'm having a problem though. Below is an example of my page layout..

===================.

| (a) colspan=2...|.

===================.

| (b) |....(c)....|.

|.....| rowspan=2 |.

|=====|...........|.

|.....|...........|.

| (d) |...........|.

===================.

| (e) colspan=2...|.

===================.

I hope that is a good explanation, the periods should be spaces but regular spaces get deleted... okay, cell D is completely empty of text. all that I have in cell D is the following:.

<td background="bottomleftbg.jpg" width=216 valign=top></td><tr>.

You'll notice I'm using a background image for that cell. But I need the height of cell D to match whatever length cell C extends to. Anyone know how to do this?.

If you need to see the unfinished site, it's at.

Good question... I dunno what is the answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I bump into an answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you an answer..

Well, after hours of playing around with the tables, I've come up with an alternate solution. I put the background image on the first left hand column and the nested table in that cell covers up the background until it ends, then showing the background from the remainder of the adjacent cell's height. Then I just removed the rowspan from the other cell. So, it works now. But I am still curious about the rowspan issue I was having. If someone knows why my original layout wasn't working, I'd love to know for future reference..

Here's my iPage website in progress:.

Your old code is extremely broken:.

<table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 width=874>.

<td colspan=2><img src="titletop.jpg"></td><tr>.

<td valign=top>.

<table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 width=216>.

<td valign=top colspan=3><img src="menutop.jpg"></td><tr>.

<td valign=top width=26 background="menuleftbg.jpg"></td>.

<td valign=top height=200 width=166 bgcolor=#171717></td>.

<td valign=top width=24 background="menurightbg.jpg"></td><tr>.

<td valign=top colspan=3><img src="menubottom.jpg"></td>.

</table>.

</td>.

<td valign=top rowspan=2>.

<table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 height=100%>.

<td valign=top width=628 bgcolor=#000000 height=350>.

</td>.

<td width=30 background="mainrightbg.jpg"></td>.

</table>.

</td><tr>.

<td background="bottomleftbg.jpg" width=216 valign=bottom></td><tr>.

<td colspan=2><img src="titlebottom.jpg"></td>.

</table>.

Table Data must go inside a Table Row. Table Rows go inside a Table. If you need to embed a Table inside another, then the New Table goes wholly inside a Table Data element of the bigger Table. Run the code through.

To see what is wrong. Additionally a line of code for Table Data should have the tags on the same line as the data itself, otherwise odd spacing errors can occur, and all attributes should be.

Going to guarantee that the code above is exactly what you want, but it does show how the element nesting is suposed to work. To get the effect that you want, along with giz's fix, is to make cell b & d and put them into a table of there own. so b&d will be a nested table in that cell. then jus tput the background in that table instead of the cells..

Well I wound up devising a method of my own. You're welcome to check out my code and nitpick at it. I'm always open to suggestions and comments. Can't learn without being able to take a few insults..
