Which iPage web host is better goDaddy or hostMonster?

Quick question... Which iPage web host is better goDaddy or hostMonster? Thanks in advance for any answer or 2. Another question I got... It would be WONDERFUL if there were something in the osC Admin for Admin Notes..

Like a text box that gets saved into the database. When you add something and hit submit, it will be forever saved in the database until you update it or clear the notes contents..

Does anyone know of a contribution (I looked and did not find anything) or how to do this?..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to that question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I got an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you an answer..

I have installed a TON of MODs and some have problems. I do not want to rip them out so I need to make notes about them..

Then if I need to change something and then change it back on the site, I need to make a note about it..

Then if I need to make myself a quick note about an order or supplier, then I need to do that as well..

Basically, I want my notes to be in the osC Admin instead of on a bunch of pieces of paper on my desk and this way, I will have access to my notes on other computers like when I am at work or whatever..

This is really important to me if it can be done...

If you read this thread you will see how to add custom fields to the catalog. But.. with a little ingenuity the thread can be used it to add a text area for comments to your admin only..

Sorry, but unless it is spelled out clearly like it is being explained to an 8 yr old, I can not figure it out. I know very little about PHP and osC is very hard to figure out the way the code was programmed..

If someone could please make a MOD or tell me how to do it, I would greatly appreciate it...

Where in the admin area would you like the "NOTES" area to appear?.

Customers, catalog, etc...

Anyone have any input to this? I really need this so if you can help out, I would really appreciate it...

There is a contribution called.

"contribution control and bookmark".

This allows you to keep tabs on what's installed..

You could misuse this for other notes as well. Just add a contribution type as "notes" and use the comments area as free text..

Not what I am needing, but thanks anyway....

If you add a note type for other categories besides contributions, and potentially change the list view to not have the contribution forum link, trim it a bit, I would think this would meet your need..

I don't see any stumbling blocks to get something to work like that, or is it that you don't have the skills to make these modifications yourself ? .

Another perhaps wacky alternative but perhaps more suited is to use the article manager contribution..

It has an admin interface allowing to make nice notes in an html text area, organize by topics and author field..

You could then make topic for contribution and list contribution specific notes underneath, another topic for notes for manufacturers etc..

You could setup your manufacturers as authors..

The pages for the catalog side allow you to view articles by topic or by author etc..

Suppose you don't expose this in your shop catalog, you have these pages on your server and just bookmark them for yourself ....

There is even an active/inactive field, so if a note/todo is complete you can make it inactive and it won't show in your listing on the catalog side...

You know, I could change the Contribution Control and Bookmark MOD and rip out all the fields except for the date and comments. Then the listed entried would be my entered notes..

I will work on this one and post it when done. Thanks for the great idea that I.

SHOULD HAVE.

Thought of myself... DOE!..

Maybe you could explain your reasons for having this (what you'll use it for) and someone may want to get involved. It could be a very simple contribution from what I understand your needs to be...
