I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer to that question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I discover an good answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could assist you..
Sounds like you have a pretty steep learning curve ahead of you. You might consider starting with the knowledgebase (link in upper right hand corner)..
Forget about FP, it won't help you much. You can't alter the appearance of your iPage site using the FP gui. You'll have to make your changes in the code itself..
For changing the verbage, you might also try looking in the language directory. That's where most of the text for the stie is defined..
Best of luck...
Is it possible that my programmers have removed things to stop me editing things myself?.
I can not locate catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php.
Only have the original files they sent me. I can see index.php- opens up into notepad when I click it..
Is it possible they can do that? as they want to charge me for editing the index page??.
Let me know.
I doubt it..
What other files and directories do you see?..
Can you see an includes directory?.
The index files should be located inside their respective language directories which are all located inside the includes directory. If you have more than 1 language installed, you'll go into those specifc language directories to find the appropriate index files to edit/update...
When you say your programmers have sent you files, do you mean you do not have access to the files online or a development version of the online site? How far did your programmers get?.
It might be time to look for new programmers. Sorry Daisy, sounds like you're being conned to me...
Thank you for helping me.
I Can see other files but when I open them they go to www.photoparade.com and then close on me..
I can see includes.
I am looking for new programmers as I am very unhappy right now..
You need to FTP those files to your desktop, and open them with a text editor..
There is no shortage of programmers in this forum. If you pick a few and contact them via PM, I'm sure you can find one or more willing to offer acceptable rates...
How do I edit my index page? when I open index.php it shows me all code in notepad..
I want to create my own little text with a few pictures..
What do I do? the programmer who set me up wants to charge a fortune for modifying the index.php page- and as we change each month- it is ridiculas..
Can I do it msyelf?.
I use FP2000 and know limited html,.
What do I do? do I edit it in notepad as I have no idea where to start typing!.
Let me know.
Thank you everyone.
Create your design however you like. Then replace the existing code in the appropriate osc file with your new code..
Do not use Notepad.
To edit - it can add extra spaces and foul your files. Use Wordpad instead..
The change for the generic text that is on the default osCommerce store's introduction and welcome is altered in the catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php file. This index.php file will need to be changed in all of the language folders. The words "There are no products to list in this category." on the bar that comes up when you click a category is also changed in this file..
