I'm trying to have <TH> then a <TD> with text in it, which I know is pretty simple. But I'm redoing my iPage site in only 3 Tables with a menu on the left side...so when I type in the text <td> TEXT Here........</td> it screws up my left menu..

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can answer it..

That's because you are arranging your text is in the same row as a single nav item..

Try this..

<html>.

<head>.

<title>Untitled</title>.

</head>.

<body>.

<table border="0" width="100%" align="center">.

<tr><th> <img src="http://dale3forever.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/topbanner.jpg" width=589 height="200" align="center"> </th></tr></table>.

<img src="http://dale3forever.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/picture1.jpg" width="100%" height="1%">.

<!Why is the width of the image above set at 100%?>.

<table bgcolor="#d3d3d3" border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="1">.

<tr>.

<th><Font size="2" face="arial">[<u>About Site</u>]</font></th>.

<th><Font size="2" face="arial">[<u>FAQ</u>]</font></th>.

<th><Font size="2" face="arial">[<u>Advertise</u>]</font></th>.

<th><Font size="2" face="arial">[<u>Link to us</u>]</font></th>.

<th>.

</tr>.

</table>.

<img src="http://dale3forever.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/picture1.jpg" width="100%" height="1%">.

<table bgcolor="white" border="0" bgcolor="white" cellpadding="5" align="right">.

<tr>.

<!This puts your nav items in one cell use valign="top" to keep everything in the top of the cell>.

<td width="25%" valign="top"><Font face="arial"><b>Diecast News</b><br><br>.

[<u>Dealer Insight</u>]<br><br>.

[<u>Caliber Report</u>]<br><br>.

[<u>Old School</u>]<br><br>.

[<u>Shelfs</u>]<br><br>.

[<u>Hot List</u>]<br><br></td>.

<!This is a spacer cell which will give a 10 pixel space between columns. You may need to insert a clear gif (10 px wide) to hold that space static>.

<td width="10" valign="top">&nbsp;</td>.

<!End spacer cell>.

<td><!Section Header goes here><p><Font size="3" face=arial>Site News</font></p>.

<Font size="2" face="arial">.

<!Begin Body content>.

<p>YADDA YDD YDD YADDA YADDA YDDD YADDD yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda YDD yadda YDD yadda YDDDDD DDD yadda YADDA YDD YDD YADDA YADDA YDDD YADDD yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda YDD yadda YDD yadda YDDDDD DDD yaddaYADDA YDD YDD YADDA YADDA YDDD YADDD yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda YDD yadda YDD yadda YDDDDD DDD yaddaYADDA YDD YDD YADDA YADDA YDDD YADDD yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda YDD yadda YDD yadda YDDDDD DDD yaddaYADDA YDD YDD YADDA YADDA YDDD YADDD yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda YDD yadda YDD yadda YDDDDD DDD yaddaYADDA YDD YDD YADDA YADDA YDDD YADDD yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda YDD yadda YDD yadda YDDDDD DDD yadda</p>.

<!end body content>.

</font></td>.

<!Another spacer column to provide a nice margin so your text doesn't run to the edge of the screen>.

<td width="10" valign="top">&nbsp;</td>.

</tr>.

</table>.

</body>.

</html>.

BTW all attributes should be in quotes, at some point you might want to look into stylesheets to format your text instead of font tags.

Hope it helps..

Well James,.

Your code is not ok.....

No html, no body...

And the TH is is not allowed like you do..

Take a look at the at..

Redone the menu/content part...

Y'know what? I screwed up in the example I sent you. I meant to make the <th> tags into a <td>.

So this row:.

<tr>.

<th><Font size="2" face="arial">[<u>About Site</u>]</font></th>.

<th><Font size="2" face="arial">[<u>FAQ</u>]</font></th>.

<th><Font size="2" face="arial">[<u>Advertise</u>]</font></th>.

<th><Font size="2" face="arial">[<u>Link to us</u>]</font></th>.

<th>.

</tr>.

Should look more like..

<tr>.

<td width="100%">.

<Font size="2" face="arial">[<u>About Site</u>&nbsp;[<u>FAQ</u>].

[<u>Advertise</u>].

[u>Link to us</u>]</font></td>.

</tr>.

I wouldnt use <th> at all..

.. but put spaces between your nav items..

Geeze I am tired.I'm going home. listen to the other guys who have the brian power to proof their own code before sending it.what they are trying to say is this..

1) A <th> is only for a header row, and is of very little use.

2) Put your entire left nav in one TD and align it to the top that way it is separate from your main content..

3)create a spacer column so that your text and your nav aren't right on top of each other.

4)and validate your code HTML tidy is a good choice for this..

I am going home now..

Good luck once you get those kinks worked out, this page'll look nice..

Thanks Beth! Code works Great.

I still need to fix the <th> though. But I do have another question? In your code you made the "Site News" with text under it all in 1 <TD> and in <p>. My Problem is that I would like to have the top "Site News" bgcolor d3d3d3 and the bgcolor for the text under it white. Thats why in the first version I had it in 2 <td>'s..

So how am I able to do this? I know if I start messing with it, it probably go south...LOL.

...thats why asking you folks first..

Thanks much,.

J MSD.

Try putting a nested table in your main content area..

In otherwords:.

REPLACE THIS:.

<!Section Header goes here><p><Font size="3" face=arial>Site News</font></p>.

WITH THIS:.

<! Section Header Table >.

<table width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" bgcolor="#d3d3d3">.

<tr>.

<td width="100%" valign="top"><font face="airal, helvetica, sans serif" size="3" color="#ffffff">.

<p>HEADER TEXT HERE</p>.

</font>.

</td>.

</tr>.

</table>.

<! End section Header table >.

CONTINUE WITH THE BODY CONTENT FROM HERE DOWN.

Again though, look into replacing your font tags with a stylesheet..

Check through the recent threads, there was a good tutorial recommended. Also check out.

They have a decnet introductory tutorial that will teach you the basics of stylesheets..

They are *MUCH MUCH* better for styling text than font tags but since font tags is what you are using at the moment, the code above will work for you..

I have had coffee and checked my code too so you should be good to go..
