Got a question... Why can't I view my iPage website from work? Thanks for any answer or 2. Another quick question... Im new to OSC2 and dont have much idea about the PHP, wondering if someone could give me a hand....

1. is there any easy ways to modify the layout of the default OSC? e.g change the design of the main page, put the search part below the logo and right in the middle, and more...

2. I would like to chage the DATE format as I'm in new zealand, it suppose to use DD/MM/YYYY rather then the default MM/DD/YYYY.

3. from the page of creating new account, how to delete "State/Province" and "Country" (or just shown NZ), and add a link right after Postcode..

Been looking for answers everywhere for ages but just couldn't find any.......

Thanks a lot....

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an good answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can answer it..

1) To change d Date format,find the following lines in the catalog\includes\languages\english.php.

Define('DATE_FORMAT_SHORT', '%m/%d/%Y'); // this is used for strftime().

Define('DATE_FORMAT_LONG', '%A %d %B, %Y'); // this is used for strftime().

Define('DATE_FORMAT', 'm/d/Y'); // this is used for date().

Define('DATE_TIME_FORMAT', DATE_FORMAT_SHORT' %H:%M:%S');.

And do the required changes..

2) to change the default layout of oscommerce you can use STS. lots of information is provided in forums about sts and it's latest versions..

3) to show search below the logo open the file catalog\includes\column_left.php.

And replace the following code with your column_left.php.

<?php.

/*.

$Id: column_left.php 1739 2007-12-20 00:52:16Z hpdl $.

OsCommerce, Open Source E-Commerce Solutions.

*/.

Require(DIR_WS_BOXES'search.php');.

If ((USE_CACHE == 'true') && empty($SID)) {.

Echo tep_cache_categories_box();.

} else {.

Include(DIR_WS_BOXES'categories.php');.

}.

If ((USE_CACHE == 'true') && empty($SID)) {.

Echo tep_cache_manufacturers_box();.

} else {.

Include(DIR_WS_BOXES'manufacturers.php');.

}.

Require(DIR_WS_BOXES'whats_new.php');.

Require(DIR_WS_BOXES'information.php');.

?>.

Hope it will help u...

Hi Nic,.

That was a great great help...thanks a lot...

Just few more things.

How to set the country to be New Zealand as default rather than "please select"?.

Do I have to be PHP geek to modify the page layout? e.g. if I wanna change the whole look of the main page?.

Thanks again...

Hi rashmisharmamca,.

Thanks so much for your time..

I have tried to use STS, but think I just need some time to learn how to use it first before I can actually work on it..

Again thanks a lot..

Andy..

Here is a cut and paste of a few solutions I've found using google.

In catalog/create_account.php.

Change:.

CODE.

Tep_get_country_list('country').

To.

CODE.

Tep_get_country_list('country', '150').

Change 150 (Netherlands) to 222 for UK or to 223 for US etc etc.

You can do the same for (if people want to change address at checkout):.

Catalog/includes/modules/checkout_new_address.php.

My client wanted his three top countries moved to the top of the country selected, the US, Canada, and the UK..

This is what I did:.

In includes/functions/general.php.

Right after the country array is loaded from the db:.

While ($countries_values = tep_db_fetch_array($countries)) {.

$countries_array[] = array('countries_id' => $countries_values['countries_id'],.

'countries_name' => $countries_values['countries_name']);.

}.

Add the following code:.

Array_unshift($countries_array,.

Array('countries_id' => 223, 'countries_name' => "United States"),.

Array('countries_id' => 38, 'countries_name' => "Canada"),.

Array('countries_id' => 222, 'countries_name' => "United Kingdom"));.

You could try installing the Simple Templating System Contribution which makes design changes easier. Read www.w3schools.com fos hints on css...
