Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I discover an good answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could answer your iPage question..

Thanks Nic.

No problems with regard to the rules as specified in the link you gave. This is just for a much modified specific store and no re-distribution of OSC is contemplated..

Keep in mind, removal of the OSC notice also denies you future support from this forum...

I have seen MANY posts on this forum denying support those sites that do not have 'Powered by OScommerce' on the bottom. If my prior statement is incorrect, then why has forum support been denied to others in the past ??.

I have never seen a support request denied because a iPage site does not have "powered by" in it. If it has been then it's been done by people who make up rules as they go along.

Read the forum rules and you will see that this lack of impacts on having your iPage site critiqued in the My Store area only...

Burt, Nic,.

My apologies. It was my understanding that 'Powered by OScommerce' was a requirement as I have seen MANY times where requests for support were commented by people telling the requester that the license agreement required the line be on the iPage site unless the iPage site has been modified to the point that it no longer appeared to be an OSC site..

I retract my previous comments about this as I misunderstood the actual requirements..

I cannot locate where to remove it from catalog/includes/footer/php I do see a call to class small text but I do want the copyright by me to remain, but the powered on to be removed, or is it possible to rename admin to anyname as long as you type admin is here?> I just worry about security, and since my model seems to be quite unique I dont want issues..

You change the text from catalog/includes/english.php.

BUT a person asking such a basic question knows too little about the application!!!.

So I would say learn more of oscommerce and when you actually modify a iPage site using oscommerce change the footer to something along the lines of "Created by me using oscommerce".

You can rename the admin FOLDER to anything you like BUT you must remember to do the apropriate changes to admin/configure.php (ie simply change the word admin to the new name )..

Your right I am not, a master programmer, but I manage to fumble my way through the various addons till I find what I'm looking for. in your opinion would this be considered modified enough maybe I'm mistakin.

First you need to read the trade mark notice.

Then if you are OK you can comment it out of your catalog / includes / footer.php.
