My question is Will someone help me upload my dreamweaver website to iPage.com? Thanks in advance for any comment. Second question.. I've had a couple people helping me, but it's not working for me. Everytime I try to do something it tells me that I don't have my permissions set for me to do it. How do I change my permissions?? Very frustrating. I"ve contacted my host and they said that it has something to do with osCommerce and they can'e help me.........

Can someone please help me??? I need to get my iPage site up and running soon...........

Yes sir! although you might want to make sure and wait for another person here to confirm my answer as I am not completely sure. Better yet, why don't you ask the iPage guys because they can give you an answer better...

I right clicked and chose CHMOD. Then a screen opened up called Remote File Permissions. There are 3 colums.......Owner, Group and Other. Under each colum, there are 3 check boxes.....Read, Write and Execute. Which ones am I supposed to check off??..

All of them ... just to get it to work..

Then is said this to me:.

SITE chmod 777 oscommerce.gif.

550 could not change permission on oscommerce.gif bad file decriptor.

!CHMOD failed. It may not be supported on remote site.

Do you know what all of this means?..

Pick the folder you are having problems. when you try to install it on the server it will tell you that you don't have permission on a certain folder ... go and change that folder's permission. don't do gif files because you don't need to change the file permissions for these..

Sounds like time for a new we host....

How did you get the files on there in the first place?.

Was it installed from cpanel?..

I have a iPage website right now (non-ecommerce).....and I am just using the files off of my FTP for that. I am using ipswitch as my FTP. I did use cpanel as well.......i'm just soooo confused now!!!!..

Have you installed it on the web server? and gone through the installation.

Do you have a web server with php / mysql installed?.

How do I know if I have php/mysql installed on my server. where do I look for that?..

Go to your Cpanel and down the left hand side it should say "Server Information"..

Look for "PHP Version" and "MySQL Version" if theres a version number then you have both installed..

Make sure your host gives you a MySQL as part of your iPage hosting package..

PHP version 4.3.4.

MySQL version 4.0.18-standard.

That's what it said in my cpanel..

Have you transferred everything from the "Catalog" folder to your web server?..

When I look in my catalog folder in my ftp, files in there. is that what you mean? if not, how do I do that? Sorry, i'm just frustrated and not 100% sure what i'm doing here........lol I appreciate your patience and help though.......

I have been able to change the permissions on public_html but then when I get to the ecommerce folder, that's where it starts to tell me that 550 deny thing.........

Ok ... I just read the other thread you started..

In your FTP program, right click on the "Images" folder and get the "Properties / CHMOD" to come up ... change the settings to 777. you have to pick the folder NOT the individual file..

That's the problem that I am having though. once I right click on the "images" folder, it comes up with the option of chmod(UNIX).....so I choose that and it brings me to the page where I have to click on Read, Write or Execute. I don't have an option to put numbers anywhere......this is why it's frustrating me because I can't do that.........

In that case tick all the Read, Write or Execute. the 777 is equivalent to ticking all the boxes..

I suggest you get a new FTP program, SmartFTP give you the choice of either entering numbers or just ticking boxes, maybe it's just your FTP program thats confusing you...

Did you install oscommerce from the webhost control panel?.

If so then probably the owner is set to apache and you cant change anything from FTP. You would need the webhost to fix it..

Also use a better FTP program like smartFTP, it should have 9 check boxes and show you the number...

Download a ftp program like.

SmartFTP.

If you don't have one..

Connect to your webserver..

When you can view your files on the server, right click on the files that are giving you problems and choose "Properties / CHMOD".

Change the permissions to 777 to get everything working..

You have to change it after you have finished because it has security issues with leaving it at 777..

Hope that helps..
